Georgia Military College (Milledgeville, Ga.) offensive tackle Trenton Brown decided to make the commitment many figured he would in the early morning hours Sunday. The massive 6-foot-8, 350-pound prospect took to Twitter with the following message.
“Gator Chompin' #GatorNation join me Oh and add me to that #1 recruiting class”
Brown insists the news was not a surprise to Florida head coach Will Muschamp.
"He's known for a while, I just hadn't made it public yet," Brown said of his commitment.
Brown originally said he announce his decision December 19 and was deciding between Florida, Florida State and Oklahoma. Despite that planned announcement, Brown still maintained the Gators led for his services following his final visits, an unofficial visit to Florida State November 21 and an official visit to Oklahoma November 23.
This past Tuesday Florida head coach Will Muschamp along with assistants Tim Davis and Travaris Robinson made an in-home visit with Brown. Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops went in-home with the talented offensive lineman Thursday, but was unable to overcome the Gators.
Brown will enroll at Florida in January and have three years to play two seasons for the Gators. His focus once on campus are to the point.
"I look to come in, work hard and get to the SEC championship first and national championship after that," Brown stated.
Brown, a four-star prospect ranked as the nation’s No. 21 junior college prospect by 247Sports, originally committed to Georgia August 3, before slowing backing off that pledge weeks later.
"Program stability and consistency even when I was committed to UGA," were reasons given by Brown for ultimately picking the Gators.
