  • Rumor out of Tally is WR signee Raphael Andrades who was drafted by KC Royals in 36th round is set to sign 150,000 bonus and head to AZ summer league. Haven't seen it reported on any UF sites so not sure if rumor has any legs atp; he was in KC earlier this week meeting with brass.

  • His dad tweeted this morning and somebody very close to him also reported that he will be at UF. He went to KC to experience everything, but wants to be a gator.

"Raph will still be wearing #Gator Blue this Fall & Spring. Had a good trip tho. Hit his first bomb at an MLB ballpark."

  • I take it this kid's going to play baseball for us too? Baseball team could use him...lost four signees already.

That's the plan. Apparently he really impressed KC people when he was up there. Hopefully he can impress on the football field too.

  • If he's that good at baseball that means he has great coordination, which should translate nicely to pass catching and running routes. Maybe another Pittman on our hands?

  • Guess it's bad I'm more excited for this kid on our baseball team than our football team.

He can cover some ground in the outfield. Something that has cost a few game this season. RA and Nick Washington will be welcomed addition at RF and CF in the upcoming year.

Did Avery Romero sign his deal yet?

  • No such thing as $150,000 for someone drafted between 30-40. Now that they've slotted the money. No one is going to pay him close to what they will pay a 10th rounder. Pigott was drafted ninth round and he'll sign for about $225,000.

If teams have money left over the can go over slot. The just lose the money if they don't sign their picks thru 10 round. Nothing really changed with about the draft. It just makes teams move money around more. Also, Pigott was a SR and he had no other option but to sign or go Indy. Because the MLB team would still own his right. Thats why more college SR were draft in earlier rounds this year.

  • Any player signed for more than $100,000 after round 10 counts against the pool for rounds 1-10. In Kansas City's case that was $6.6 million. Kyle Zimmer got a $3 million signing bonus. They went over their third round slot money by signing Colin Rogers to a $700,000 bonus and have spent $500,000 on Kenny Diekoroeger (#4), $340,000 on Chad Johnson (#5) and $275,000 on Zach Lovvorn (#6). They have signed #7 Fred Ford to $250,000. They agreed to terms (undisclosed so far) with Alfredo Escalera and Daniel Stumpf (#8 and #9) and they are in negotiations with #2 Sam Selman.

Do the math. They don't have the money to sign Andrades to $150,000 and it's highly doubtful that a #36 would get anything close to six figures.

  • Pigott has the advantage of being drafted by the Reds, who have the second highest bonus pool of more than $11 million. They've already signed #1s Nick Travieso ($2 million) and Gators signee Jesse Winker (comp round; $1 million). The Reds signed their #2-6 picks for a combined $1.9 million so they have money to spare. Pigott will get something around $225,000.

It's also interesting that the Houston Astros already signed their #1 Carlos Correa to a $4.8 million bonus. The slot for Lance McCullers calls for $1,278,000 and he wants much more, plus he's represented by Scott Boras, who is notorious for holdouts.

The guy drafted by the Astros in front of Preston Tucker (#6, Jacob Lamb) signed for $160,000 so Tucker might not get as much as Pigott even though he was drafted two rounds before.

  • It could also work out for Hudson Randall to come back next year. The Tigers only have $2,090,000 for their draft pool and they have already spent more than half that on their #2, #3 and #5 (didn't have a #1) and they still haven't signed their #4 or #6. Not a lot of money available for a 7th rounder. That might be enough to get him to come back.
