  • Would love to see UNC, Viriginia, or Duke join the conference. Adds a lot of northeast TV exposure, while still regionally making sense.

    john swofford. UNC and UVA WILL NOT LEAVE THE ACC NO MATTER WHAT. if UVA left it would be for the big ten.

    UNC is the texas of the ACC as long as john swofford is running things. they get away with academic scandals, recieve no punishment when they should be getting damn near the death penalty and this conference is becoming even more of a basketball conference

    we bring a ton to the table but nothing the SEC is looking for right now.

    if they wanted to become the absolute end all be all conference in football wed be in along with texas and oklahoma and kentucky and vandy would be gone. SEC wants tv markets which is kinf of laughable since they already have CBS and a stranglehold on ESPN at this point

    For FSU or Clemson football...Vandy is on the same level in basketball, baseball and women sport but has old money, a large media market and is an AAU school. KY is GREAT at basketball...this alone would keep them in over FSU/Clemson...maybe you should have said Ole Miss.

  • In addition to what everybody else has said, UF already has a sizable monetary advantage being in the SEC vs. FSU in the ACC. The SEC TV contracts are being renegotiated, and when that is all set, our monetary advantage will be even greater. As the years go by, this huge monetary advantage will become greater and greater, as will the benefits of having the extra funds compared to FSU. Adding FSU to the SEC helps only FSU, not the SEC or UF, so why should we help them?

  • Maybe the way FSU handled the first invitation has led the SEC leadership to not trust FSU admin so isn't interested in being bothered. If you noticed, this last round of expansion teams that were added also brought great academics to the conference, because I think the SEC was sick of Delaney and Big 12, and Pac 12 using the educational standards as a reason why the SEC was doing better in athletics overall not just football. FSU with your scandals of cheating and inordinately high number of special needs football players isn't helping in this area either. TV markets are becoming more important as less people attend games at the college and pro levels, right now most of the FSU fans watch gator games anyway. Finally, the main reason is fans don't know so you should just contact Mike Slive and ask him what are the future expansion plans of the SEC in the future. He and the board are the only people who've strategized who they want and why they want them.

    Historically, UF spent years trying to get FSU into the SEC. Then, when FSU finally had the chance, they spurned Florida and the SEC for the ACC.

    Florida has never forgotten or forgiven that and neither has the ACC. Now that football has become the big bucks for colleges, and schools would now love to be in the SEC with its huge football revenue and draw, now we don't want to share the revenue or the recruiting pull that an FSU in the SEC would bring, or Clemson for South Carolina.

    For us, its personal now. Georgia also will vote against it as we promised to vote against bringing Georgia Tech back to the SEC.

    In 1992, FSU was the hot chick everyone wanted to date. In 2012, FSU is the used up has been with lots of wrinkes, saggy tits, and a fat ass. Maybe Texas and Oklahoma will want you :).

    you misread my post. i said end all be all FOOTBALL conference. Vandy and UK bring nothing for football. obviously its a hypothetical and would never happen

    So again I ask, why?

    The conference is better served by adding new TV markets as all leagues will eventually have networks or, at least, new TV deal$$$$$

    You have a better chance of getting Afghanistan to join the SEC then UNC or Duke. Those 2 schools own the richest basketball conference in the country.

  • Forget it semis, no SEC for you. You chose the ACC, now live with it. Your "basketball powerhouse conference", 5 champions since 1995......SEC 5 champions since 1995!!! You bring NOTHING to the table for SEC membership....weak academics, habitual ncaa violator,total program sucks......you bring NOTHING. Enjoy the acc, you may even get a ring this year.

  • What makes you think FSU wants in? FSU declined last time because it was afraid of a real conference and wanted to be king and take an easier road. Bowden pretty much admitted this. I think it's in your dna as a school. I think you will go to the Big 12 if you are truly sick of playing a pansie schedule because it's not as hard as the SEC and still helps you financially. I could see the SEC inviting you ONLY to block this kind of move.

    B/C adding either of y'all does nothing for the bottom line of the SEC...the name of the game is new TV sets and the SEC already has the flagship university in both states. Want to add new markets (NC/VA) to increase footprint and cash flow. Like someone already said, y'all chose the easy way out (well Bobby did) and now you're on the outside looking into the big money!
