Wiggins?

Give me Kasey, Scottie, DFS, SkyWalker and Pat/Harris againt those young pups anyday. Frazier II, Casey, Yuegette and possibly Harris coming off the bench, they better hope like hell we don't get Randle. Trust me if they think it is going to be easy next year they have another thing coming.

Imagine the defensive squad we can put out there with

    1.Scottie
    2.DFS
    3.SkyWalker/Yuegette
    4.Randle(dreaming)
    5.Young/Harris

    Or

    1.Scottie
    2.Casey
    3.DFS
    4.SkyWalker/Yuegette
    5.Young or Harris

We will be able to guard anybody in the nation...

Agreed. We are going to be really, really good next year. If either Pat comes back or we get Randle, we are going to be scary good. Nobody's saying that we won't be able to beat them..... just that adding Wiggins to the class they already have would make that likely the best freshman class to go to the same school (on paper) of all-time. I don't think we get Randle (although we're not out of it), but if Pat comes back we win the national title IMO. There wouldn't be a team in the country with such a great senior class to go along with super-talented underclassmen.

Andrew Wiggins over Kevin Durant??? You guys lose tend to forget so fast smh

Kevin Durant couldnt even bench 185 before he was drafted. How much do you think he was benching in HS before a year at Texas? He had no strength coming out of HS. Sure he could ball but overall he was nowhere near the prospect Wiggins is right now

And I clearly stated in the last 20+ years and what makes Wiggins better than Kevin Durant??? Ummmm yeah please tell me?

So if he said 10 years (decade) why did you make the argument for 20? Everyone knows Lebron is the best high school prospect of all time that doesn't need to be stated. As for Kevin Durant as a "prospect" he wasnt as highly touted as Wiggins is now. Have you seen Wiggins play? Compare high school tape with Wiggins and Durant and you will see why Wiggins has been considered the best HS prospect since LBJ. Durant wasn't even the #1 prospect in his class. I feel like you're considering what Durant did after HS and thats not the argument

Don't forget Durant was still 6'2-6'3ish as a high school jr.

And if there was another Greg Oden clone in this class, he'd probably be #1 as well.

I think you are thinking of Anthony Davis. Durant was 6'2" when he was a high school freshman

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_tall_was_Kevin_Durant_in_High_school

I disagree on the Greg Oden clone. Wiggins would still be ranked #1 in my opinion. He is far to explosive to not be ranked #1. Durant wasn't that explosive. That is the "it" factor that scouts see in Wiggins. The Lebron James type athleticism. Nobody knew in HS that Durant would be a future NBA scoring champion but they knew Lebron James would be as explosive a player as he has been

No I was thinking about Durant. I didn't think he hit that growth spurt until he got to Montrose.

And nobody knew about Oden's future health problems. I'm not speaking in terms of just talent, but also the way the NBA is made up right now. There are no dominant centers, w/Dwight and Bynum being hampered by injuries.

A guy with Oden's skills coming out of hs would automatically be looked at as a franchise changer, imo.

You're not getting what the word "prospect" means. I'm not necessarily saying he will be better than Durant, but he is definitely higher thought of than Durant was at this point. Durant was the second pick in the draft. There's no way in hell Wiggins is going anything other than #1 next year. He would have been drafted over anyone that's come out since Lebron, and I'm fairly certain that most people who do this for a living would back me up on that.

Bro I disagree with you all the way, Kevin Durant was unreal that one year at Texas...I refuse to agree to this Wiggins kid at 6'5 and athletic where as Durant was 6'10 and possessed everything Wiggins does and more. I guarantee Wiggins wont have the season Durant did at Texas anywhere he goes. I agree with the before post about teams falling in love with Centers, hell Sam Bowie went over Jordan. KD is and was just unreal, too bad he was in the same draft class as a 40yr old or he would have went first hands down. Wiggins is no lock for #1 if Jabari Parker has anything to say about it.

    Jabari Parker #1 for me

    PoloGator1074

  • Did his bench stop him from leading the nation in scoring? Did it stop hin from dominating at the McDonalds game? Bro Durant was as unreal as anyone, I just dont agree with this Wiggins talk, hell I see Tyrek Evans play in high school and I wouldve put him before Wiggins imo...Tyrek was sick in high school, filthy!!!

  • The NBA was viewed differently back then. Kevin Durant's college season was during the advent of the new rules (no hand checking and etc). His uniqueness also lost him some points in the eyes of scouts since many people have trouble thinking outside the box. Wiggins is a more conventional wing player and is probably an automatic top 7 SG if he comes in the NBA as good as advertised. I think you have to wait until Wiggins gets his one year in college to make a definitive call on how he compares as a prospect.

Not everyone ... IMO, the best HS prospect of all time came from the State of Florida. Orlando to be precise.

Also, it does seem that a lot of people put much more stock in the glitz and glamour associated with wing players which skews the view sometimes.

    I'm not saying that Wiggins isnt good ... he's a great player, but I would put these players up for comparison also;

    Brandon Jennings
    John Wall
    Kevin Love
    Harrison Barnes
    Anthony Davis
    Derrick Favors
    Nerlens Noel
    Tyreke Evans
    O. J. Mayo
    Shabazz Muhammad
    Eric Gordon
    Jared Sullinger
    DeMarcus Cousins
    Kasey Hill

He is talking about this years 2013 class. The last decade including this year would reach back to 2004, not 2003.

His statement ultimately was that Wiggins is the best HS prospect since Lebron.

I apologize, and everyoe is entitled to their own opinion but you are going to need a pretty strong argument as to who at any point in history was a better HS basketball recruit than Lebron James.

So who is this former prospect you speak of? All you say is out of Orlando? your going to have to tell me more than that. Orlando is cool and all but thats not gonna change my mind

  • I dont see anything different about Wiggins that I haven't seen before from alot of the guys listed and in the above post and more. Like I said before Tyrek Evans was on another planet coming out of high school aswell, hell Brandon Knight was sensational too. What is the difference? What separates this kid??? I dont see it...Is it just because of his School and their pedigree, what is it? Find a profile from an analyst of what they have to say about Wiggins and I will go back to some of these other forementioned stars and they would say the same exact things.

    PoloGator1074

  • Just wait until the McDonalds and Jordan games against the best competition then we can talk about how good Wiggins really is

I apologize for that as well. I was actually waiting for an "old head" come through and recognize the player because nowadays all of the props go to the glitz and glamour.

Granted his career was not a great one in the NBA, there's no doubt about his dominance in High Scool.

    Chocolate Thunder.
