Number 6 was my freshman and Soph number and 2 is my senior number (didn't play jr year) and I love single digit numbers on the DL if thats what they want. Its a "swagg" thing with this generation. Look at Mario Williams, Clowney, Dunlap, Jenkins from UGA, Jay Howard, Ropo, Ease, Fowler, Jacobs, Floyd was originally gonna wear no. 4 but changed his mind. Kids of this generation like to rebel against tradition and I like that. Why wear 99 just bc the old guys liked it better that way. Screw that, if u make it to the league let them pay you well to follow numbering rules but in college live it up and break the mold. Oh and I like Bullard better bc he has NO formal weight training yet he has one of the best bull rushes in college football already. Kid is a powerhouse hence my nickname for him, "Johnny the Bull". As a freshman at times he overwhelmed experienced SEC OTs with his bull rush with out knowing many other moves. Its not like they didnt know it was coming he just out works them and is pretty good in pursuit.
