UF looking at 2013 PF prospect

    I am in the group that is puzzled by going after a 6'6" guy. Now perhaps either Finney-Smith is going to be one and done or a 4 at UF. That would mean next year the 3 would be a SR in Prather and Soph in D. Walker. Thus this move might give UF a two deep at the 3 in 2014-15.

    DFS was recruited out of HS by UF and told when transferred he would get every opportunity to be a SF in our system a la CP, and that is where he is best suited IMO...he handled the ball a lot in HS....now if Walker does not make it in and PY leaves, DFS will have to play mostly down low at PF I would guess

  • Maybe a stupid question but I was out of the loop during the time...what happen with Rimmer? I read somewhere we didn't have a 'ship open.....also is Larson still on 'ship or at UF? Thanks

  • Rimmer would not confirm or deny anonymous reports that his full scholarship offer was pulled and he was asked to walk on as a freshman.

    I suspect Larson's on scholarship for the entirety of 2012-13 as a courtesy, but doubt he remains on scholarship after this year, making it a moot point.

  • Larson wasn't on scholarship ever on 2012-2013. He was a walk on this year, with the chance to earn his scholarship back next year.

    as for DFS, im pullin for kid to be a 1 & done as much as anyone since that means he balls out for UF

    but the history of transfers being 1 & dones is rare if non-existent....maybe Wesley Johnson who grew 6 iinches is the only example of this occuring....asking a lot for a kid who prob did not reach full potential/issues w/ prior staff + 1 yr on the bench (massive rust)....asking a lot out of kid to be the savior next yr IMO

    I agree. I am just trying to come up with a reason UF might want to recruit a 6'6" in this class.

  • With Stanford's coach on the ropes, it looks like Rimmer may be looking elsewhere if he is fired.

    I don't know how all that works, but he has signed his letter of intent.

    If the coach is fired, it is typical (and maybe an NCAA rule) that he'll be released from his LOI. He could still chose to resign at Stanford if he likes the replacement coach.

    Is Stanford's hot coach seriously on the hot seat? I saw that the beat Cal at the end of the regular season, and their record seems decent.

    Hearing a lot of this lately and not liking it...

    It is a distinct possibility, and has been for a while...I have mentioned it going back a few months...staff still feels he will make it, but it is going to be razor close either way...like Dante Fowler/Jon Bullard close if he does indeed make it in

  • i will be extremely disappointed if walker does not make it in! if it occurs then we will only have HIll and whatever project we grab in the spring. if it occurs i blame the staff for grabbing walker and not taking any other high impact bigs. it seems they put all their eggs in the walker basket and tried to grab Parker, Randle or Embid and we will strike out on all 3

    Really hope we don't offer....no offense to this kid, but he is a tweener, and most of the time these under the radar late big man takes by UF transfer out and never pan out...ie Larson, Pitchford, etc....Yeguette is the rare exception who worked out....and even he is just a good role player.....if you are down to possibly offering kids like this, why not take Drekalo Clayton early from FL when you could have, who is better IMO.....

    This is my first post on this message board, so I might as well use it to respectfully disagree with Bullis. We have disagreed from time to time in a friendly and I believe educated way on the Gator Country message boards. I hate to make judgements based only on video highlights, but, after looking at several video highlights of Mikyle Mcintosh, I would take this kid in a heartbeat. The kid reminds me of what Vince Carter looked like in high school. He has the skills of a guard, but is a well-built 6' 6" kid who is tremendously athletic and can jump out of the gym. Based on the videos of Mcintosh, he looks like he would challenge Michael Frazier for the starting 2-guard spot. He would allow us to go 2 deep at every position on the floor (assuming Walker qualifies and Young returns). Unless the videos lie, Mcintosh is a big timer who will be a future NBA 2-guard in the Vince Carter mold. He looks to me to have more upside than both Frazier and Grayson Allen, and I like both of those guys.

    dont really like us going after borderline high d-1 talent! we reached on Walker and pitchfork. we need some quality bigs or wings in 2014 or we will have a huge drop off. come on Billy lets get some top 50 players on this roster for 2014.
