Thread of the Year.

  • I do love how when Urban was at UF OSU fans were up there with ND fans in calling Urban a dirty recruiter and loved to flame UF about his recruiting tactics and were happier than anybody when UF lost 5 games his last yr

then once he becomes their coach, they didn't mean all that

  • I would like to hear TG's opinion on this situation. He is a very good writer and very informative. He isn't biased and knows what he is talking about.

Man, you guys are hard on your former players. I actually honestly think Meyer (and Zook) produced not only a hell of a lot of NFL talent, but those guys are keeping their noses clean in the NFL for the most part. Who are all these NFL players from Florida getting busted? Joe Haden? OK, there's one, but he's not a bad guy by any means.

As for the arrests while Meyer was at Florida, isn't that commonplace among any college football program? When you have 105 players on your roster, you'll see about 5-6 arrests per year. Did Meyer have a bit more than that while at UF? Maybe, but not much more.

I just think this idea that Meyer ran some renegade program at Florida and left the Gators in shambles is a complete farce.

"When you have 105 players on your roster, you'll see about 5-6 arrests per year."
I'd like to see you back that up with numbers; I highly doubt that 5-6 arrests per year is commonplace among ANY NCAAFB program.

Did it ever occur to Gator fans that the reason Muschamp struggled in his first year could be that he was installing a pro style offense with a team filled with spread players? Oh no, can't be that. Let's scapegoat the HC who gave us 2 nat'l championships in just a few years instead.

Maybe because the last year Meyer was here his own offense did nothing as well. What we as Gator fans really need is for you guys to come in here and tell us your infinite knowledge of football. I'm sure you being biased will have nothing to do with your bs comments against the University of Florida.

Who said Alabama's program was "broken"? It was not good, but anyone who followed college football knew all it would take was a good coach (not a Shula) to turn them around,

    You were saying?

So basically what you're clinging to is the use of the word "broken" and the refusal to acknowledge when a program is broken. Despite the very man you defend saying the program was broken.

Its obvious that you are far to unreasonable and biased to have an open minded discussion and see the faults in your thinking and homer article. When someone provides example of why your thinking is off, you just deflect or try to spin it.

Yes, I agree. Urban was also the devil and a cheater from 2005-2010 then a Saint and God from 2012-Present...... Weird.

And by the way, he lost those 5 games his last year because Muschamp was going to be the coach in a year. Had nothing to do with Urban's coaching ability at all. Hell his offense was a streamlined juggernaut with no breaks or leaks in it at all that year.

There it is! If you had "Page 4" of the thread when someone would make fun of Meyer for actually thinking he was having a heart attack ... you're our grand-prize winner!

Sorry, I've heard the 911 call. Listen to that and tell me Meyer's wife didn't actually think he was having a heart attack.

It is getting to the point where this dude is embarrasing himself and the 247 network... Bro, are you a journalist or a OSU fanboy?

And to think this all started over him critizing Hayes for not being "professional"

    LOL

I wanna know why so many tOSU fans think Meyer saved UF football?

Before Urban, Florida State & Miami were the class in the state of Florida. More titles, better head to head wins, better recruiting classes, and overall better national perception. Urban and his assistants changed this almost immediately. In his tenure, he literally owned Florida. Sure, other factors existed, Urban took full advantage while winning 2 Championships, top 5 recruiting classes every year, and he buried FSU.

He didn't save anything, he took it to the highest level.

Actually Steve Addazio was the coach that year Urb took the year off

I've actually pointed this out quite a bit. OSU fans used to hate them some Urban Meyer. HATED him. Started with 41-14 and reached its head with the Shariff Floyd recruitment.

Trust me, it's not lost on my sense of humor that Buckeye fans absolutely hated Urban Meyer 3 years ago ... and now collectively love him.

It's the classic "I hate that guy! ... unless he's on my team."

Exactly this. He is making himself look like a hypocrite. ITT he is doing the very things he criticized Hayes for, but worse.

It definitely is. Anyone else who recognizes the OSU 247 guys as giant homers is a friend of mine. Helwagen, Biddle, Kurelic...they piss me off enormously, along with the gaggle of trolls that have been invading our board recently.

  • Not gonna lie, this is hilarious. I have no dog in this fight but for an editor of a team site to feel the need to defend himself like we're in high school is comical and almost sad. To also go on about how you shouldn't be expected to write non-bias articles is an interesting comment as well.

Actually SI did a story that showed of the top 25 teams in 2009 7% of the players on their rosters had criminal records. So for a roster of 105 that would be 10.5 that would be arrested.
