The Travis McGriff of 2014

  • Since I wrote about UF legacies last week, I was thinking about how good Travis was that final year in Gville. Wonder if Spurrier wishes now he would have gotten Travis more PT earlier.

Anyway, there's a 2014 WR in Raleigh that is a McGriff clone.

Braxton Berrios of Leesville Road. 5-10, 170. Looks faster than he is. Catches EVERTYHING. Great route runner. Tough kid.

Florida hasn't show any interest yet, but I'd be willing to bet the kid is better than some of the WRs on the roster.

High 3-star with some offers. UNC. VT .... and yes, South Carolina.

When I covered the Gamecock Showcase last summer, Spurrier watched Braxton very closely. In a group with Alvin Bailey and Demarcus Robinson, Braxton easily was the most polished. Is his upside as high? As far as NFL potential, no. But can Berrios be a solid receiver in the SEC?

    Spurrier certainly thinks so.

Check out his video if you get a chance: http://247sports.com/Player/Braxton-Berrios-12993

  • This is one of those deals where the kid is a stud in HS, will obviously be a stud in college, but because he doesnt project as a high draft pick, he's only a three star.

He's like another Ace Sanders except more polished at WR. Wish we'd have taken Ace. Can you imagine him on the end around we use Patton for? Wowza.. Not to mention he's more electric than Brandon James, who was the best PR to ever play for UF. Yep, SOS will land him another ACE, except white.. lol

This makes me wonder how kids like Bailey, Jesus Wilson, Scott next year, get ranked so high.. Surely they don't project well to the NFL. Scott isn't any bigger than this kid. Bailey is a bit taller but not nearly as fast.. I like them all, just curious how the NFL thing applies to some more than others. JJ Green and Will Likely are both electirc players on the HS level. Why are they being projected by their future NFL standing, but the guys mentioned above are not.

Also, DeSean Jackson, Santana Moss, Wes Welker, TY Hilton, Darren Sproles, all say Hello to NFL projections.

For me it's a toss up between Brandon and Lito but Brandons sophmore year YPR avgs were ridiculous as far as individual season goes.

  • What we really need is the 2014 version of Ernie Badeaux. Keith, any out there?
