Dave Hart is looking more like the problem than Dooley ever was.
At this point they may be better off with and interim coach next year with a new AD who has more time to get it right.
A new AD would wash some of the serious stink that is envoloping the program

Tenn has to play UF, UGA, Scar, and Bama every year. The also don't have much in state talent. You are going to suffer a lot of losses during your first couple of rebuilding years. So by the time you actually have a competent team, you are already on the hot seat.

So much BS going on between Hart and Cheek.
Rumored they were trying to force CCS to take a few former Vols like Jay Graham, Pittman and maybe bringing Tee Martin back. Creek told Hart to tell Strong that Clintt Hurtt couldn't be part of the staff according to Hubbs.

Anyone think Butch Davis might be a candidate for this job? He can recruit FL and is a pretty good coach. Although at this point I am not sure if even Butch who has been out of coaching would be interested. I just don't think any of the young minds in football are going to be interested in this job.

Most programs can't afford the risk of Tressel and him having to sit out the first 5 games with also hurt his chances of returning to a BCS program. I could see Kent State making a run at Vest.

Bobby Petrino is probably one of the coaches from a purely coaching standpoint who could salvage their coaching search.
Petrino has proven he can win in the SEC, he took Arkansas to a BCS bowl and he is unemployed.
Will Tennessee hire him? Doubtful.
But which way do you go, PR nightmare, or risk being in the whole financially with another poor coaching hire?
