  • It's a simple plan for Florida really. If our running game can have success and we can keep the ball and keep the clock moving and actually capitalize by scoring a TD then that limits the time Tennessee can have the ball. All our D has to do is keep the plays in front of them and not give up big plays for TDs. UT has an offense geared for passing the ball and scoring through the air and their running game doesn't scare me at all. I think the score will be close but I think we come out ahead 24-21. We go ahead 24-21 and Tennessee is forced to kick a fg to tie it and their special teams fails them.

  • Love UT vs UF. (Especially considering the results lately)

OK - my take. While a big game for both coaches / programs. I see the pressure being greater (much greater on Dooley). As in keep your job pressure. OK so now that we have established whom the pressure is on - who wins?

Will be an ugly, mistake filled game. UF survive's the VOL push and the jacked up crowd in the first quarter.
The game settles into a slugfest.

UF is rather ineffective on offense, especially with MG out, Vol's play well and force several three and outs.
But a fumble here, an interception there, a few missed balls and UT can't put the Gators away.

UF's front seven exerts more and more pressure on Tyler, keeping it close late into the fourth. UT's squandered opportunities bring the Vols to earth, to face the one grim reality every other coach in the modern Vol era have come to understand ................ Gators are 2 Big, 2 Fast, 2 Mean - they just won't quit!

The pressure becomes omnipresent and the UT coaching staff begins to fold. UF begins to impose it's will on defense.

Fans begin to pull on the one good tooth in their mouth,
    They pick their nose,
    They drink shine,
    They kiss their sister............but.........

They watch in horror when Elam picks off a desperation heave by Bray inside the 10.

Gators are having fun now, Driskell puts togther a methodical drive with 5-1/2 minutes left. Sturgis trots onto the field and nails the game winner from 47 yards out as time expires.

Jr and Lulu, in agony, enraged, begin flagelating themselves for they know, the only thing left for them, is a trip to Shreveport and the Poulan Weed-Eater Bowl.

"Florida is truly running into a buzzsaw this Saturday evening. Everyone who has anything to do with this program is hungry i.e. players, coaches, fans etc. The atmosphere will be a throwback to the late 90's and early 00's. Most importanly we for the first time in years have the better team. Streak ends Saturday." UT blog

I think your read is spot on. If the Gators are successful doing that, you should be able to win it. If it comes down to a FG, I just don't like our chances.

Tennessee has shown some ability for long, sustained drives, but not consistently. Most of our success, as you said, has been quick strike through the air. I'm not sure that Bray will have time to make some of those throws and let the play develop as he has in our first two games.

If Tennessee is unable to establish a running game (and I really think we will struggle there), this could be a long night on Rocky Top.

I do think, however, that our passing game is potent enough to keep us in it and give us a chance to win. I feel better about this game than I have about the last 4, that's for sure. I remember leaving the Swamp when the Coach We Do Not Speak of was our HC satisfied that we had ONLY lost by 10. I'm not there any more. Anything less than a win this year will be costly for CDD and our program, particularly on this big stage.

They had a better WR corps last year and our DB's were even greener yet somehow we won.

Actually not better WRs last year. You are wrong.

If we aren't getting pressure from the front 4 it is pointless not to blitz. I would bet they will dial that up often and it seems both sides are better in the passing as well as secondary, respectively.

I remember Bray doing well but he also threw a ton of bad passes when under pressure. As someone else mentioned the game will likely rest on whether or not tenn can actually stop Mike Gillislee.

Agree on Gillislee comment. TN D is much better, mature and better coached than last year....but I think FL score 4 or 5 times. This comes down to who scores the most.....heheheheheh

  • Trying to be a good visiting poster, but not sure how to ask this without sounding like a smart ass...to what do you attribute 8 sacks to last week? expect more or less this week? Why? Thx.

Most of the 8 sacks were from our young QB. He's on a learning curve and has shown some improvements so I'm hoping for fewer sacks this week.

  • They key could be one thing people are overlooking. Kicking. Sturgis can hit from 50+ consistently...that really could be a huge advantage.

LOL I think the whole thing describes how the Gators feel about the Vols....

A 7 year streak is hard to overcome for any team....not gonna lie, I am very anxious and nervous about this game. This is the best chance we have had to beat you guys in a long time.......

So most of you guys have zero respect for UT's passing game just based off of last years game? Whats the real deal with that?

4 sacks were because of JD holding onto the ball while rolling out instead of throwing it away. It also helps when you have 3 guys who will go in the first 2 days on the draft playing in the front 7...something UT doesn't have atp. Porter and Moore are Day 1 draft guys who you got thatcan get that type of rush?

  • On Our Dline Sentimore and Couch are both studs you are over looking big time. And Maggit is an elite pass rusher. Well ability to elite.. Nonetheless a hell of a pass rush .. Also, Mcullers could be a high draft pick as a NT. we have 3 NFL guys on our Dline as well. But this will be a good game. I feel good about Tennessee's chances, better then I have in years. Last couple I have been optimistic. This year more confident. But with that said this game could go either way easily. Should be a great game! Obviously both teams have a few First rounders playing, now it's just a matter of which ones step up on the biggest stage! Also we haven't been this deep across the board in years. But the biggest thing for Tennessee which has really hurt us the past several years is youth and depth. Which neither is a problem. Not relying on any freshmen, and we can go 8-9 deep on Dline or Oline. The thing that scares me is Yalls runnin game and yalls front 7. But I feel confident our big boys can consistently slow down yalls run game. Still worried bout our run game but the potential is there, still don't know if it will click or not. And Bray is no longer a daredevil lol . Hasn't thrown into double coverage this year and goes threw all his progressions, he has really really grown up big time. Anyways I come in peace haha ready to see this game play out. Should be a damn good game

UF has 6 NFL guys in the front 7 but only one could be a first day pick none of UT guys are first day picks. I've rewatched the games and Mt.Mc hasn't done anything that warrants a double team from our OL at point...just a big kid taking up space, but Sentimore is solid against the run but don't see him being a able to rush like Moore did last weekend.

  • Obviously we both have a lot of talent. Yea, sentimore is a stud and he's hasnt scratched the surface and runs a high 4.7 for 290 pounds and has a lot of twitch but our dline is a lot different then Texas am . They were a bit undersized but yes we're good pass rushers and we have some of those guys too. Like Corey miller. We are deep On dline. With different kind of players.

    keller22

  • Not Trien to compare our Dline to yalls, cuz no dought y'all have floyd and Easley which both are proven players more so then ours, but we do not lack talent or depth there, and I can assure you we Are better, bigger and deeper on the Dline then Texas A&m. Like across the board. I'm sure whoever you mentioned is a good player. But just saying we have more quality and depth then them.

Not sure where you get that idea??? UT's passing game is the ONLY thing we have respect for.

    gators813

  • Curt Maggit, Jaq smith are also two guys at OLB that will be in the backfield the most. Sentimore is a good pass rusher from the inside but Maggit and smith have a lot of speed off the edge. And Corey miller who will play more in Sub packages but also give couch or sentimore a breather is a very good pass rusher on the inside our outside. We have a lot of options. Way more then Texas A&M. I'm sure they had a guy or two but we have a lot more options. None of which are freshmen either. But driskel legs scare me the most haha, he could single handily kill us with his legs if we get lazy and don't keep our rush lanes. Or keep a spy on him

Just from what I have seen from a couple of other posters. Talkin about Bray not being that good, yalls passing game being better than ours. Floridas secondary being one of the best in the country and we dont stand a chance etc.....

Just curious what the real thoughts were on Bray and our recievers. But thanks for the heads up lol. Glad we get at least some respect haha.

It goes both ways bc I've read some UT fans say Vols are better than UF across the board.. our DB's can't cover your WR and your running game is better huh. Should be a good one but our ST will win this game again. Your punting and kicking game is complete trash.

Our secondary is good. Better than most he will face, but that doesn't change the fact that Bray and the WR's are real good. Our passing game is better than yours??? No way our biggest homers would say that. I need a quote to believe anyone would say that.
