So what do you guys think

  • Is our biggest offensive issue right now. We can't ignore that our offense really just isn't very good anymore. Our defense is why we are doing so well....but the offense the last few games...well...what's the issue?

Oline being unable to simply pass block
    Receivers not getting open
    Driskel in general?
    Play calling?

Not a bash thread....its just time to accept this offense has been rather blah. What's the issue?

I vote oline....we can't throw it deep at all because our oline can't hold blocks at all...I mean even when we throw a deep ball we get a chip or hold call...what do you think is the issue right now? I know neg votes probably come from any thread deemed even remotely negative...but the truth is the truth..

  • OL.

They struggle with run blocking and pass blocking. Way too inconsistent.

Head coach is clearly the biggest problem with this offense right now. If you want to coach to have a bad offense it is clearly an easily accomplished goal.

If you say any drive that ends in a kick, including a punt, is a good drive, then you are coaching to have a bad offense. I suspect Muschamp is going to be surprised at the heat he will get for not filling the stadium despite an 8-1 record.

I bet the Gainesville business community will not be amused to have empty seats with a team with this kind of record. Game weekends are very important to some local businesses. I bet they have and will continue to let Foley know about it.

    Are you dumb?

  • No OLine and truthfully not one skill player that scares anyone on the defense. Gillislee is a good back, but doesn't wow you with anything.

  • The only way to watch these games is to have the #justwin attitude . SOS was here when I was at UF and I love High Powered offense, but we just don't have the guys for that yet. It's amazing to me that we have one of the best Defenses in the country and somehow every team we play gets more pressure on the QB than we do. Our OL needs a lot of help before we can asses the QB or the playcalling. Next year should be better. For now just hope we win every game, even if 3-0, no matter who we are playing. It's made this season much more enjoyable for me.

You have no idea what you're talking about. It's not the head coach's fault that Meyer left us with a shitty OL....go have fun with Bullis in a corner

  • The problem on offense is the head coach? Some of these people should be screened before being allowed to post here.

The biggest problem is the OL. They are awful at pass blocking and inconsistent with run blocking. You could make a strong case about the lack of playmakers or Driskel making bad decisions, but it all starts up front. Really hope Moore, Garcia, Dunker and Humph in year 2 and maybe Trenton Brown can spark this unit next year.

No, it shows you how great a coach he really is. Wait til we have playmakers. If we can win with this bad an O-line and no playmakers, how many championships can we win after they arrive? Just saying.

  • You guys are very funny. You have a head coach who admits he does not plan to try on offense. Then the head coach's team has a crummy offense. Then you wonder why, but can not imagine that it could be the head coach.

Good deduction skills. Of course several people with such good thinking skills can only resort to name calling. I am sure you are proud of those contributions to the discussion.

However, name calling does not change the facts. Just as offensive minded head coaches get the defense they demand from their defensive coordinator, defensive minded head coaches get the offense they demand from their offensive coordinator. When you coach to have a bad offense, you have a bad offense. It is really as simple as that.

So, let me break it down without the namecalling.

This is the type of team we are right now. The OL has struggled. We have a serious lack of playmakers on offense and when it comes down to it, we have a first-time starter at QB in the SEC. We are who we are right now. We win games by causing turnovers, playing good defense and ST. This is our identity right now. But, anyone who suggests we do not have the right head coach I believe needs to have their head examined.

Here's why -- does anyone remember the complete mess of a team that Muschamp had to inherit? Players who played for themselves and not the team have either been shipped out or have changed their ways. This has been admitted numerous times and we finally have a team again at the University of Florida. If you want the offenses of the Spurrier days, well...sorry. We aren't that team right now. I don't know many other coaches in college football right now who could have completed that type of turnaround so quickly.

We do, however have very skilled offensive players in this recruiting class and a young QB with tremendous upside (probably more than any other QB in the nation). We have some young OL and a few studs on the way and coaching in that position has been much better than what we had in years past.

I'd also like to ask you when is the last "offensive minded head coach" that won a National Championship? And I'd question if you answer Urban Meyer due to the fact that our defenses in both of our NCs with him were absolutely sick and most of them are starters in the NFL right now. We were blessed to have some playmakers on offense who are also contributing pretty damn well in the NFL.

The formula in college football is pretty damn simple if you ask me and I struggle with why people find it so hard to comprehend. You win NCs by playing outstanding defense and having a few dynamic players on offense. Bama had Ingram, Julio, and T-Rich. Auburn had Cam. We had Percy, Tebow, and others. We will get there. Questioning a guy who has taken this team to 8-1 this season when most projected us to be third in the East is not going to win you a popularity contest here.

Exactly! While watching the games, I have to remind myself that Pease is actually doing a good job of working around serious deficiencies on the OL and at WR. It's hard to accurately assess Dirskel because of this.
