I'll try to ask either Muschamp or Pease this week.

When we are getting penalties and negative plays it makes the recievers run longer routes on 3rd down and they send the pass rush. Jeff is trying to make a play and pick up the first but its hard when the recievers are running 10 yard routes and they are sending a blitz. We need to cut down the penalties on early downs and sacks they are killing us.

That's true...but when the short passing game is working you are in 3rd in short a lot. Which means you can run or throw and the defense is on its heels. Georgia was in FULL ATTACK mode.

Yup. It's amazing what can happen when it's executed, but the QB and WR's need to read the same thing and know what to do.

Another thing...Driskel was recruited as a spread option QB by Urban Meyer. WM choose JD over JB because of his speed. I don't understand why they don't take more advantage of JD running ability a bit like Johnny Football at TAMU.

Whenever the end bites on the handoff JD gets long runs when he keeps the ball. QB sneaks etc.

Running up the middle for little gain to mediocre gain is exactly what will put us in favorable third downs.

Short passing game is not the answer though. No teams respect our WRs.

We need to run block better, make first down a 3-4 yard play.

Teams are biting on short routes because we have no vertical game. We have no vertical game because of pass blocking.

Doesn't have anything to do with first down runs.
