OT: Who should Orlando draft?

  • uffeesh said...

If your screen name is the team name, shouldn't you know how to spell the name of the starting Center?

Haha Ya probably I didn't feel like googling it though, but hes a solid player I like him.

    Oladipo?

He's legit, but not #1 overall imo. His lateral gm, finishing ability, and first step are top shelf.

It would be cool to get him with our second pick in the First round if hes still available.

we only have one 1st rd pick this year

The Lakers pick? That's for the 2017 draft.

  • But yeah we're definitely tanking the rest of this year and next year. Hoping to get Smart/Ben Mc. and Wiggins or Jabari Parker.

  • And to address the concern of not getting picks in this years draft.

This year's draft sucks. Its one of the worst in recent memory. Getting 2 young players (Lamb and Harris) is more valuable than a 1st round pick this year.

Yeah this is a pretty weak class.

  • The guy talked about in ten years is oladipo....he drives, shoots, plays defense, works hard. Get him .screw Noel he has no offense. Mohammed disappears. Mc is really a scorer but nothing else. Give me oladipo.

Oladipo is a junior. Mohammed and McLemore are freshmen. I think the upside with those 2 is much greater than for Oladipo.

Now they are back at it again saying ORL got hosed in the deal. I personally think we hosed MIL. As much as I like Redick, just like Ryan Anderson its not logical to overpay a veteran who does not fit the youth movement. Both Lamb and Harris could turn out to be very good players. Based on what Hennigan is trying to do with the team and personel I think he has done an A+ job so far. Oh and come Draft time we can thank Otis Smith because we would have a early pick in the 2nd rd which could turn out to be a solid young player but he dealt that pick to CLE 2 years ago for Justin Harper. Smith wrecked our team trying to make Dwight Howard happy. I am so glad both of them are gone

I was fine with the trade b/c JJ needed to get moved. We took a flyer on Harris and Lamb (2 former first rounders) who are young and cheap. Who knows if a pick was available, but I would have rather had the pick. I'm underwhelmed by Harris and Lamb though it is early for both. If we could have gotten MIL's first rounder, maybe we had a shot at CJ McCollum? I like that kid a lot and he's not likely to go in the lottery coming off his injury. That's all easy to say, though. No idea if anybody was offering a first rounder.

As for Hennigan, the Dwight deal was terrible, imo. We got Vucevic and nothing else for the future. Afflalo and Harrington are the exact opposite of what we need. Both have multiple years left on their deal and are good enough to help you win a few games, but not good enough to have any trade value. However, we don't know if the other so-called offers were really available. I liked the Houston deal (young players and picks, inlcuding Toronto's), but I don't know if they really made the offer or not. I will say this, if I have to hear one more time that we should have taken the Brooklyn deal, I will throw up. Lopez and Brooks help keep you a 35 win team. What the hell is the point of that?

I'm telling you...watch him play. He has that it favored. Mclemore and Mohammed are just scorers...that's hit or miss in the NBA. Oladipo has a complete game. There's a reason you'll hear his play style is Jordan like every Indiana game.

The only picks available for JJ were from teams likely to land us a pick from mid 20s or later. Hennigan chose the Bucks deal because he decided Tobais Harris was a better prospect than anyone he'd get with a late 1st this summer. Ive heard where Bucks package for Josh Smith was same as the one for JJ plus their 1st rd and Mbah Moute. Not easy to get teams go give up a whole lot for a player who might not hang around. New CBA is to blame. Multiple GMs have said before new CBA there is no way ORL doesnt get a 1st for JJ.

As for the Dwight trade we also acquired Moe Harkless, DEN 2014 1st (lower pick), PHI 2015 1st (protected) and Lakers 2017 1st. Hennigan got a lot in return for Dwight. Only other true asset ORL lost was Earl Clark. He pulled a star 2nd year C, a 19 year old solid SF prospect, 3 future 1st rd picks, a 2nd rd pick plus Aaron Afflalo, Al Harrington and 3 other players. Great trade value for a guy who was 100% walking after the season
