OT: Who should Orlando draft?

  • In the upcoming NBA draft. Looks like they'll either have the #1 or #2 overall pick. That being said, who do you take?

Really like Noel's upside. McLemore from Kansas is a stud. Smart from Okie State. Carter-Williams from Cuse.

Which of these guys fits best into the needs of the team and who will be the biggest star of the bunch?

  • Marcus Smart to me is the best player in college basketball. He's the safest pick IMO.

  • They'll go Noel at #1 unless his recovery appears to be more difficult than predicted. I would rather have Smart but the big guys almost always go first. I don't see Noel ever being more than Kenyon Martin, and their careers are eerily similar to this point.

  • I hope they dont go Noel with the injury and though his potential is through the roof hes nothing more than a defensive player and I like Vucivic(?). I really hope a point guard climbs the board. I liked Jameer but it is time to bring some one else in at the point. I could see them going with Carter-Williams or Marcus Smart both are nice players. I hope that they get some kind of player thats a guard or a wing they need a game changer at those positions.
    Or Shabazz

If the consensus is that we would all like Smart, we need to hope for #2 or #3 in the lottery. They won't take him at 1.

Not a Magic fan but I would take McLemore or Shabazz. You don't take a guy who blew out his knee 1 or 2. That Serb center the Magic have shows a lot of potential

  • To be honest as an Magic fan I hope we get a great player in this draft but I hope we struggle again next season because the '14 draft is likely to have a few future superstars (wiggins, parker, randle). If we finish with the worst record we are guranteed a top 3 pick. Personally I hope its McLemore or Smart as we already have future starters at the 3-5 spots (Harkless, Nicholson, Vucevic). However I think Zeller, Muhammed, Noel, and maybe even Bennett are all options depending on which pick we get. Ultimately I think PG and SG are our main areas of need. I would throw Muhammed right up there with MS and BM but his character issues are a concern. He seems to have a me against the other team memtality and needs to work on being a teamate

  • Marcus Smart and its not really even close. Hes the best player. And Nerlens Noel has 0 chance at going #1 overall.

I'd say Noel will still be a top 3 pick, but I'd go with a PG or SG. In this case, Smart, Carter-Williams or McLemore would be my options

  • Also, I'm going to assume that if Charlotte has the #1 pick then they'll take McLemore since they already have Kemba Walker at PG

  • Wiggins is probably the next big superstar in the NBA, so yeah, having the top pick next year will be much more valuable.

  • Marcus Smart is a good college player. But, I just don't see him being the center piece of an offense.

He doesn't have an elite first step, and he shot less than 50%, so far, in every gm except for 5-6.

  • Honestly - I know you guys are NBA fans and that's cool. But personally I couldn't care less if the NBA drafts anyone. They could shut down the league as far as I am concerned. Pretty much the same for the NFL. Sorry guys. I know how popular those leagues are but for the life of me I don't see why. If it weren't for a casual interest in the BUCS I wouldn't care about anything about the NBA or NFL. Now MLB...that's a different thing altogether. Go Rays!!!

  • I waver a lot, but I'm leaning towards Marcus Smart. I'd be ok with Muhammad or Bennett as well. It's all about picking up a future 2nd star, but being bad enough and lucky enough to get Wiggins next year. Smart at the PG with Wiggins on the wing is the start of a title contender. Vucevic on the boards and pick up a PF as a free agent in 2 years.

Huge Orlando Magic fan. And basketball in general. Love our Gators. Just don't comment on it much on this forum.

But yeah, I'm a huge hoops fan.

    Oladipo?

He's legit, but not #1 overall imo. His lateral gm, finishing ability, and first step are top shelf.

If your screen name is the team name, shouldn't you know how to spell the name of the starting Center?

  • I'm just sick of hearing all the crap that all these so called NBA fans spew when ORL makes deals like they have recently. It was a downpour of negativity and ridiculing when the Dwight Howard trade went down but already less than a year later it's clear to see that ORL made out damn good in the trade if not better than the other 3 teams. Bynum has yet to play and may never for PHI, Dwight Howard has infected the Lakers, and Iggy has been ok for DEN but no better than Afflalo has been for ORL. The Magic got multiple 1st rd picks, Afflalo, Harkless, and Vucevic which is turning out to be a heist if you ask me.

Now they are back at it again saying ORL got hosed in the deal. I personally think we hosed MIL. As much as I like Redick, just like Ryan Anderson its not logical to overpay a veteran who does not fit the youth movement. Both Lamb and Harris could turn out to be very good players. Based on what Hennigan is trying to do with the team and personel I think he has done an A+ job so far. Oh and come Draft time we can thank Otis Smith because we would have a early pick in the 2nd rd which could turn out to be a solid young player but he dealt that pick to CLE 2 years ago for Justin Harper. Smith wrecked our team trying to make Dwight Howard happy. I am so glad both of them are gone
