OL Brumsfield and Marqui Hawkins updates:

  • For starters, Baton Rouge OL Brumsfield says UF is his leader after camping, despite being on LSU's campus. He's grown up around LSU and been there a million times yet has UF as his leader. Same as Gerald Willis. Like I said, I think this is part of that group from Louisiana who said UF was so much better than Bama and UF. Not getting my hopes up, but these guys could get together and end up at UF. Our staff is doing it big for the next class already, which is the same reason they were able to kill it so early this year. They're already focused on the next class, just as they were toward the end of last class with this one. Very Texas esque..

OK, onto Hawkins.. The kid commited to UF without ever stepping foot on campus. He recently visited Auburn again and says they're his leader. The kid is commited to UF and has Auburn as his leader? WTF? Time to cut ties and move on imo. Lost cause. We better not screw the pooch on our WR recruiting again. Too many good local kids and too many of them are begging for UF offers, to only have two legit WR's in this class. Dont' feel good about Hawkins or Robinson at this point. Lets find some local targets we like and take a chance. We've got two really good WR's commited, but need two more imo. Hawkins is not worth getting burned at the end. Meanwhile, we could lose ground on others who were high on UF early on.

Agree on the Hawkins kid. I was really confused when the news hit he had committed. He is a good prospect, but nothing spectacular. Nothing that would say to me take him this early. Think our staff should focus 100% on D Robinson and push all out. He is a better prospect than Hawkins anyway.

  • I don't think LSU has offered Brumsfield yet.. that might change things when they do. Regardless it's nice to be on his radar.

  • If Hawkins really said that, he's done. What a douche.

  • Hawkins' AU visit was over a week ago, though, and he's already on another visit to UNC right now; so maybe that excitement all these kids get while on and immediately following a visit has worn off.

Seems like he would either have decommitted or been turned loose by Muschamp by now if there was something really to it. Honestly, if we cut loose every kid who has blurted out a favorite or made a hasty commitment in the heat of the moment while on a visit elsewhere, we'd have about 30 kids on our roster.

It's June; these commitments and decommitments will be going back and forth for the next 7 months. Muschamp isn't one to be trifled with, though; you get too big for your britches and try to play the game with him, and he'll put an end to the game right quick and pull your offer. I like that too.
