Coming from a guy who can't even spell our starting QB's name right

Btw ^^^^ I guess the coaches know more than you cuz we are 8 - 1 Sooooo I guess DRISKEL (one L) does give us a better chance to win and at the end of the day all that matters is did we win

Is that your argument. I can't spell his name. Yes we are 8-1, but Driskel does not deserve the credit. The defense does. Can you argue that?

Yeah sport team deserves credit defense has been spectacular no question
You can't be mad bro 8 & 1 with a true soph QB who has to get time to develop and grow

And if u don't know how to spell his name how Di we know how much u follow football bet u can spell Tebow name
Driskel has done what the coaching staff has asked him to do. Manage the game and don't turn the ball over by forcing passes. Which he has done except for the one game we lost. Right?

Attended the game today, and here are some QB observations:

-The QB play, as you all saw, was spotty at best. As I looked back at previous games I realized it just hasn't been that good period. Hot and cold is a nice way of putting it. The OL could do better. The WRs get open more than I thought, but they don't know how to extend routes well. So the bad plays aren't all on the QB. But the fact is, UF is getting good plays off and off at best from that position. Driskel still lacks a great awareness of when the rush is coming. Still has to get much better at that. From my view, it didn't look as though he sees the whole field well quite honestly. Also, there were several times when he simply threw to the wrong man. Perfect example -- at one point in either the 2nd or 3rd quarter, the pocket collapsed, so he ran straight ahead and threw to a well-covered receiver for a 5 yard gain. Unfortunately for UF it was 3rd and 10. Gave the play not chance whatsoever to achieve its purpose. I don't believe you all have seen a great improvement from him during the course of the season. Doesn't get sacked as much. That's plus. But is he reading defenses better? Does he go through progressions better? Doesn't look like it. The coaches would say I'm full of it. They have to say that. But my eyes and your eyes are probably seeing the same thing. Now, that said, he's the guy. Has to be. Huge upside if/when things really start to click. The real question is this: What kind of progression from Jeff will there from now to 2013? He has a long way to go. That's the harsh truth. Being able to make plays with your feet now and then is nice. But can he be a consistent threat in the passing game? Can he be a guy that will be able to attack a defense? We don't know yet. We just don't. You may says, 'well, he's just a soph.' And that's true. But what's also true is that he hasn't done a whole lot in the passing game at this point.

My gut tells me UF's OL will be MUCH better next year. And I also believe the WRs will be better as well. I think that's when we'll truly see what kind of QB this guy is. Tough kid. Great runner. Great arm. Time will tell if he becomes a great QB.

You're staff here so people won't jump you for this very accurate opinion. I tried to say essentially the same thing last week and was e-depantsed; eviscerated. The tools are there. The talent is there. But I'm not sold on what's between the ears. Not saying he's not intelligent; not at all. But there's that "it" factor that great quarterbacks have. Instincts. I've not seen that yet from Driskel and I'm not sure we ever will.

I just think that everyone here including myself feel like we can't jump to this conclusion yet because he is too young. If he were a Jr or Sr then yes something would need to be done.

I happen to think Jeff is gonna be pretty darn good. Like possibly ALL-SEC good. But right now, he's still feeing his way around out there.

However, has hasn't been getting UF beat. Something to say for that.

Now, against UGA he had the TOs ... but he still drove UF at times and helped get the Gators in position in the 4th to win -- or have a chance.

But in terms of overall development as a QB ... That's where the struggles have been.

I don't disagree that the talent is there. He may be one of the all time greats. But to just blindly proclaim that he's the next Heisman QB at UF is simply uninformed and premature. As you noted, we have WR's getting open. He's still making horrible decisions with the ball and he's getting pass after pass batted down..even screen passes...These are things that he has to fix immediately. I guess I'm a bit overly sensitive about this because I don't want another Brantley/Newton situation to unfold..and at this point, Driskel has not thrown that knockout punch to prove he is the superior player to Brissett. I just think that it would be healthy for all parties involved if Jacoby got some serious flow time over the next couple of games. Not so much that Driskel gets rusty or anything...and it would be ridiculous at this point for his role as the starter to be questioned...but we need to see what Jacoby looks like in a live game situation with the first teamers as comparison.

if we look terrible again next week i think we should give jacoby some reps just to be fair to the kid

hopefully he gets reps in garbage time tho we shouldnt have any problem next week

Are we going to give him reps at OL or WR, because that is what is killing Driskel. Our OL isn't giving him a pocket and our WR's are not getting separation and making plays. I mean I am all for giving a kid a shot, but you will see the exact same problems and not the same results as JB is not the runner Driskel is. Driskel has gotten himself out of trouble and won us games with his legs. I cant say JB would do the same.

I agree I think he is thinking too much rather than playing the game but I think his regression is due to a number of things and not just on him. Our Oline has regressed with him and we are loosing some of our key players to injury. Our running game is non existent right now. Our WR are being themselves. I Play calling hasn't been very impressive. The last two weeks have been a perfect storm of events.

Agree. And these next two games will give the boys lots of time to work on it.

You cant say anything because you dont know that. It is possible that with jb we would be winning by a large margin and not need a major stop by the defense to win. This argument is just as plausible as yours. Like i said earlier...quit blaming the receivers because they are open. The only passes jd have hit are the ones where no one is within five yrds of them. Throw to the spot and allow them a chance to make a play. He gets sacked because he is waiting for them to get wide open. Holding ball too long equals sack in the SEC.

How anyone can suggest Brissett should play at all or get a look with an OL that cannot pass block is beyond me...JD is suoer mobile and still taking a beating, Brissett would get killed

For once, I completely agree with you.

What's killing Driskel is the inability to read the defenses and go through progressions. Go back and look at the big plays we've had in the passing game, practically all of them were the result of man-to-man coverage due to blitzes. You have to make defenses pay for blitzing, or they'll never stop doing it.

Good QBs know where to go with the ball within 3 seconds, great lines give him 5. Anything less than 3 seconds is solely on the line, anything more than 5 is solely on the QB.

Can Jacoby do better? I don't know, but neither does anyone else - not even the coaches.

I do believe that the coaches should continue what they are doing though, because Jeff is the QB they have chosen for this year and beyond. There's no need to just trot Jacoby out there for the sake of him auditioning for another school.

Othello only posts when things are going bad, btw, so ignoring him might do the trick.

More specifically only regarding criticism of one player and in support of his beloved JB. Probably a family member because his last post is such nonsense it HAS to be personal.
