Nerlens Noel tore his ACL last night

  • FLAJeff said...

That comes across real good! Is that the best we can do for a kid that just blew his knee out??

I don't know why or how all that stuff works. But there was a black pickup truck parked in the O'Dome near the locker room waiting to take him out of the arena after the game. He was taken out in a wheelchair, so maybe they needed the pickup to get a ramp to wheel him up in there? I don't know.

  • Lmao come on now it was not a pickup truck really?? Has to be more to story ....we got a top 3 medical school on campus ...got to think some reason why a pickup truck

As for Noel , feel for kid, plays hard and a Damn shame to see his bright future jeopardized like this

As for sUK and Calimari ...cry me a river !!! They still got more NBA talent than 99% of teams in college hoops ...don't get why anyone feeling sorry for them ..media infatuation is laughable

They still got a legit NBA center in WCS ..every other program in country would kill to have that kid as a bench player if not starter

Forget the youth nonsense ...AP built like an NBA player , Goodwin also explosive ....have vets ...Wiljter is a Mc D AA sophmore with legit size /range ....harrow was a McD AA also in his 3 rd yr ...Julius Mays is a 6th yr kid it appears

Just like UNC...how many McD AA s does Calimari need for sucking not to be his fault ???

I'm not lying. Black pickup truck pulled into the O'Dome ready to haul him out.

  • I'm picturing Nerlens having to hitchhike to Shands.

Saw it on tv last night. The reporter said that "Nerlens Noel is being taken to a nearby hospital for x-rays" and they showed the pickup as it was leaving. I don't remember if it was on ESPN that I saw it or some other news service. I thought that it was odd that they transported him in a pickup. Don't they have emergency vehicles on site for situations like this? I suppose that was a dumb question because apparently they don't. Maybe this situation needs to be better thought out by the University.

There has to be more to the story TG?! Man, I could see that happening maybe in Wyoming or N. Dakota, but UF/Shands?! Don't tell me they tossed him in the back like Cat Nation alleges! Geez, this does not look good for Fla.

Is it that big a deal? I mean he got the treatment and attention he needed. It's not like there was a whole lot that could be done for him last night.

Agreed, an ambulance ride wouldn't have made his MRI results any better.

No, its not a big deal. All that matters was they got him to the hospital. Its not like they put him in a golf cart

  • Bottom line is it's the University of Florida and there MUST be an ambulance at the O'Dome for any type of sporting event! What it wasn't his knee? What if it was a neck injury, like Rotnei Clark and we had no stretcher? Embarrassing! There needs to be 1 maybe 2 ambulances at the O'Dome from now on. UF was caught slipping. I expect Foley to get it right!

I agree with this. Forcing a player to go to school for 1 year is ridiculous, what do they get out of that?

What the owners get out of it is not wasting tens of millions of $$$ on guys like Kwame Brown.

What the players get out of it is the ability to spend a year improving before jumping into the crucible knows as professional sports.

TG, this is what I'm talking about - what if it was for another traumatic injury that required an ambulance & there wasn't one on site?
Nerlens was well attended - we could clearly see this. I'm sure the pickup truck was a nice one! But, it does not present a good 1st class image for UF - or the O'Connel Centers image for handling the transport of an injured athlete to nearby Shands. Also, in today's world of medical malpractice lawsuits, what if an agressive KY Lawyer & the Noel family decided to sue the University for alleging more damage ocurred during the improper transportation of an injured athlete (in a truck-not an ambulance) without professional EMT's present - during his truck ride to Shands??

I'm glad they got him taken care of & no doubt our intentions & care for him were of utmost priority & concern for his health, but you can't be too careful enough in todays world of injury related lawsuits - especially high profile athletes in high profile Elite programs on National TV. That's all I'm saying.

It's all about dotting the i's & crossing the t's. Maybe that was done the other night, but it doesn't come across that way due to his truckride!

I dont get what the big deal is... I tore my ACL limped half a mile to the battalion aid staton and told them I was sure I tore my ACL and was told to come back in the morning. It didn't further damage my torn ACL. I think a truck ride would have been great!

I see what you're saying. All I'm saying is I'm not informed enough on how the procedures work to really negatively comment on Florida's handling of the situation.

For all I know, there was an ambulance waiting right outside and they decided it wasn't necessary to take him in an ambulance because it was a knee injury he wasn't likely to make any worse, sparing a little money from an ambulance ride.

  • In conversing with Pat, he expressed great sorrow in hearing about this injury. Over the last 2 years, as you would expect, he has taken great interest in Kentucky centers.

  • Im sure they have ambulances at the o dome. Why spend 900 dollars on that for a knee injury. if he had a neck injury or anything like that im sure an ambulance would have taken him to shands.

It did more than $900 in public image damage if you ask me. It just looks like something you would see from Stetson, not UF.
