  • I saw a tweet that the NCAA official driving this is a UF alum. Any truth to that? If so, that's badass. Suck it, U.

  • A pretty good breakdown from a lawyers perspective

The NCAA can do whatever it wants. People need to realize the NCAA is not the federal government there is no due process.

Also as someone mentioned all that letter says is if you don't respond we're going to believe what he told us. Either they are bluffing or they have enough corroborating evidence that a lot of the shit he's saying actually happened so they're going to believe him unless it's refuted.

It's kind of like how if I have a trial I bring witnesses to refute what the plaintiff claims otherwise the Judge/jury is going to hear uncontradicted testimony from the plaintiff.

Good point on maybe they got evidence that falls in line with Shapiro's claims and this their shot to dispute it.

  • I don't understand why they keep talking about bowl bans as though they mean a damn thing..

What will hurt Miami is the amount of Scholly's they lose in this deal. If they get anything close to what USCw got, they won't recover for many many years. By then they will have been a nobody in the scene for well over 12 years.. These South Florida kids won't even know who Miami used to be, which destroys their last little lifeline and their only chance to ever be a real program again. Might as well shut down the program if they lose 10+ scholly's a year.

We all knew former canes wouldn't talk. Well the NCAA is tired of the stonewalling and issued an ultimatum to the former players that says if you don't talk to us by Friday we will consider that an admission of guilt.

Wow!! Sounds like the proverbial hammer comes down this summer. Not sure why The U is denying itself "The Liquid Drano Bowl". It ain't gonna matter to the NCAA when the sanctions come down. I mean, it's not like they gave up playing in a couple of Orange Bowls!

  • While the NCAA has no jurisdiction over players not currently at the University, they do have jurisdiction over coaches, both those currently working and those that would like to one day. If you were a Miami assistant when all this was going on, you are worried about potential show cause penalties that could effectively end your coaching career. Guys like Hill have to be talking in order to reduce any punishment they recieve. If ypu combine that with the bank and phone records, picuters and other evidence that Shapiro turned over, they probably have a pretty compelling case. At this point they are way beyond fishing for info, and are now trying to draw a boundary on how wide and how long this went on. If they get a few players to rollover, it will probably just be supporting what they already know.

The good news is that it looks like they actually want to bring this to a conclusion, so we might hear something about their punishment by NSD.

  • What people fail to realize is IF they can do this in our case then what stops them from doing this if UF or FSU ever gets investigated.

This is setting a dangerous presidence. Whatever were found guilty of im cool with. Take our medicine fine, but this is ridiculous

  • “@CharlesRobinson: Ok. I'm going to explain this NCAA letter to former Miami players so fans understand it. Please hang with me for the next few tweets.”

“@CharlesRobinson: Here's my take on the NCAA letter to former Miami players. In numerical order.
1.) The NCAA is in final days of its investigation into UM.”

“@CharlesRobinson: 2. NCAA goes over entire case, troubleshoots any unresolved issues or loose ends. Still has majority of former players refusing to cooperate”

“@CharlesRobinson: 3. NCAA believes it has to show it gave ample opportunities for former players to defend themselves, decides to put overtures in letter form”

“@CharlesRobinson: 4. NCAA decides on hard line stance with letter, despite knowing it can't argue "assumption of guilt" in front of Committee On Infractions.”

“@CharlesRobinson: 5. When NCAA goes before Committee On Infractions, arguments are made against only players who have corroborated evidence against them.”

“@CharlesRobinson: 6. W/ players specifically charged w/ evidence, NCAA produces letters showing said players were given a final deadline to defend themselves.”

“@CharlesRobinson: 7. For players who don't comply, UM can't argue said players weren't given opportunity to refute charges, as NCAA produces deadline letters.”

“@CharlesRobinson: I believe NCAA is only issuing letters/arguing "presumption of guilt" against players it already has corroborating evidence on.”

Ummmm... because we didn't cheat for 20+ years straight like you. You are complaining that they are making people tell the truth. Crazy.

We have to do something to get investigated right?

  • The guy who wrote the letter is a UF grad from what the Canes fans have said.. They're whining that he's "biased" and they'll win easily in appeals.. LOL.. Is there a more delusional group of sorry fans than the few Canes out there.. These people are in total denial.. They're about to be hammered, keeping them down atleast another five years. Who knows if they ever fully recover after that.

  • Miami has HUGE money issues within their athletic dept-missing out on bowl revenue for 2 years in a row is big-especially when they average less than 30K paid attendance-if half assed u an dClemson leave the ACC you might see scUM back in the big least

  • Miami is an outlaw program. This was common knowledge back in the 80s when they were winning titles.

They were getting paid for big hits, big games, even for just showing up and looking good.

Luther Campbell saw to it. Then his protege' came along and did him one better.

Little Luke pissed away 100 million (of other people's money) on ballers at DaEwe and now AT LONG FRIKKEN LAST the bill is coming due.

They deserve the DEATH PENALTY and a minimum 10 yr ban from playing football.

They prolly won't get what they deserve BUT they will not be competitive again until 2020 at the minimum.

Methinks the NCAA will be very, very creative with the SIZE and SHAPE of the HAMMER they use on the scUM.
