NCAA fires enforcement director over Miami snag

  • The NCAA has fired enforcement director Julie Roe Lach over the $20K paid to Nevin Shapiro's attorney to ask questions about the case. Big news, wonder how it'll ultimately affect things going forward in the Miami case.

  • Well, unlike a court of Law, Miami doesn't have the ability to have this information stricken from consideration by the NCAA. The NCAA has the information, and it shouldn't matter if it was obtained through "other than honest" means. I think the NCAA still has an obligation to act on the violations they have evidence of in this case.

  • Well deserved. But this is going nowhere.

Maybe those 2015 kids meant to say SNAG not SWAG when asked about Miami

  • When these problems were revealed a couple of weeks ago, the NCAA said that they will not use any of the information gained via these actions of their enforcement staff. They also noted that approximately 95% of the information they had was independent of this situation, so Miami is not off the hook.

Yes, and just like striking it from evidence after it has been seen in court, it will be used no matter what they say. They have a ton of stuff without that though, and I still think Miami is getting another year bowl ban and a ton of lost schollies.

agree, the NCAA just did right by themselves firing the problem. Now they can regroup and punish UM based on the infractions still in question. Some may get thrown out but that is actually very little in the big picture. UM still gets a very healthy punishment based on the tons of evidence and problems discovered.

Now the NCAA can proceed with what they were before and a ruling is not contaminated by that persons procedures. Look out Miami, it just got bad again.

  • The NCAA Has A Lack Of Institutional Control

The NCAAshe received at least $20,000 to pass along information obtained through bankruptcy depositions that had nothing to do with the case.
