Kenny Boynton

  • Everyone has been tough on Kenny this year because he has been inconsistent but today he became the second leading scorer in school history with 1,940 points. Hes currently 150 points behind ronnie williams and heres to hoping he breaks the record with a sec tourney win and a long run in the ncaa tourney. Kennys a great kid and has put a lot of time and effort into our program!!

agreed...i want him to go out with the record...i'm not sure he'll get it...he will have to LIGHT it up over the next few weeks...but he can most certainly do it!

  • Always been a fan of his. Those of you that have been on our different web-sites, know he has been heavily criticized over the years, but now look at his accomplishments.
    A Great Gator!

  • He's had his ups and downs, but he will ALWAYS be a great Gator!

  • Love Boynton..and hope he breaks it...just keep the ball out of his hands at the end of games pleaseeee...he just doesn't hit the last second shots...ever!! We need better plays for last second shots lol...Boynton throwing up a 30 footer after dribbling erratically is not a successful plan(hint..get the ball to Murphy).

  • Love KB but like Walker I'm ready for him to leave. Nothing against the kid but he's killed us so many times at the end of a game with a bad shot..with that being said I hope he breaks the record and goes out with a NC.

  • One thing about Kenny that doesn't get enough recognition is his defense. He and Scottie are both excellent defenders on the perimeter, and that's huge in the NCAA Tournament when guard play is so vital.

  • During the Bama game on ESPN they did a breakdown on Kenny B's jumper.

Basically his off hand is positioned wrong and they said that combined with his release on the way down is the cause of his inconsistency.

He hasn't had a great offensive year but his attitude is great and he is a Great Gator. Hope he gets that record!!!

He's been shooting this way for 4 yrs & as you correctly point out, shot can be streaky. Just hope he gets his shot back for the big games - cause when he does have a good game we tend to win by double digits.
Good tough defender & Sr. experience will be tough to replace.
Really hope the Srs. go out in style, especially since nobody had this high expectations for this team this season!

  • For Boynton to break the scoring record, he'll need to average 13.73 points per game AND have Florida play in the SEC Tournament title game and the national title game. He currently averaged 12.5 points per game. Anything short of playing in that maximum 11 games, and the scoring average he'd need goes up pretty dramatically.

or go on a run like the McCrae(?) kid from UT. He's been sick the last 5 games.

  • I think it has been difficult simply because he was great last year and now this year he seems to have taken a big step back.his shot is something awful this year for whatever reason and he just does not have it.

Agreed. I think losing Erv really hurt KB... Those 2 really worked together for some odd reason.

It's not really odd. They two were best friends and had great chemistry together.

  • If we didn't wipe Maxwell's numbers from the books, he wouldn't be close to the scoring record. I think Vernon had something like 2,150 at UF.

Love Boynton though. Very tough defensively and he has played on two Elite 8 teams at UF already. Hope he goes out with a bang. Kid's a winner and a FL kid to boot.

2,450 points had two years not been struck from the books. Ain't nobody got time to touch that.

  • KB is much better when he attacks the basket regularly and takes 3s only very selectively. He hasn't been doing that recently.
