Is there any doubt about Will Muschamp?

  • AlligatorDundee said...

I never had any doubts and still don't. That said, I'd damn sure love for him to get this Jorja monkey off his back.

i hardly see it as a monkey on his back

i mean yea if we didnt win a bunch of other big games last yr maybe but he came thru with plenty of big wins and really that was the monkey to me was just getting that first win over a top 10-15 team then we ended up getting 4 of those

Every time we lose to uga, there's a monkey on OUR BACK.

  • I think he has and is doing a hell of a job.It tells you something when you don't recruit a kid because of his character, most coaches don't care about things like that.Think this year we kick uga azz in a big way.gators

  • We have the right coach assuming we can keep him here.

If anything holds us back it will be Jeremy Foley and Bernie Machen refusing to spend money (recruiting staffs, coaching salaries, IPF, Athletic dorms etc) and refusing to do everything else within the rules to win (oversigning).

WM and staff did an excellent job last season, no doubt...and they have recruited very well also...we really need to beat UGA and win the East next season...no real excuse not too....I am not going to blow up if we don't, but the East should be ours...I would love our Offense to be better as well

I don't know about "no real excuse not too". We lost our 1000 yd RB and Our only other real threat Reed. I don't think we should have huge expectations this year. We have a lot of question marks on offense still and even though the defense should be good, we are losing some great players. We really have to hope some of these freshman step up and the 2 transfer OLs to make this year as good as last year.

Muschamp did a great job this year, probably as good as any coach in the nation. He is definately the guy I want coaching the Gators.

  • Will Muschamp is the GUY.

It's a big job. It eats people alive (see Zook, Meyer).

But Muschamp's values, his defensive coaching skills, recruiting and consistent message (building a program!) have served him well thus far.

If we can get the Offense figured out Will will be Gator HBC for a long and illustrious period of Gator Football!

You need to post more. I like Heather Mitts looking at me.

I like Muschamp And I think he is the right fit, and I know our defense is going to be on lock every year

BUT, I want to see WM open up his ideas of how we should run an offense, I want to score 30+ a game, I want to blow out bowling green, ULL, and Jacksonville State, I want to have a QB put up 250 yards passing every week and that's not asking a whole lot honestly

Also, I want to see him beat UGA and win the SEC east, he has to do that to be the "guy" IMO But I am also willing to give him some time too, he needs his guys in his system, still another year away

First off I am a huge advocate of WM. I do agree with you that I would like to see the offense progress and put away some over matched teams much much easier. Dont really care if our QB throws for 250 every game but to me whats more important is we utilize our WR's and score some off thorwing TD's. I think we are headed that way though.

  • I wasn't sure about six quarters into the 2012 season, and still wondered eight quarters in. Then, after 12 quarters, I was certain of the improvement of the team overall - physically, mentally and emotionally.

As the season wore on and I had talked with more folks behind the scenes it was apparent players believe in him and will run through a brick wall for him. He's the kind of coach who may be hard on you (players say when he yells at a player, EVERYONE on the practice field knows it), but he also can be the first one to lift you back up after knocking you down. Players love the guy, almost like a blend between a friend and a father figure.

  • Reed has been at TE for awhile now, our WR's have sucked.

Last year was great no doubt about it, but 1 season does mot make you a great coach.

    Larry Coker ring any bells?

Not saying Muschamp isnt the guy for the job, but its too early to say he is the next Spurrier/ Meyer too.

Maybe, but I think the point is that right now Muschamp certainly passes the eyeball test.

SEC EAST champs or bust the only team being UGA lost nearly their WHOLE DEFENSE. USCE will be good but not that good...

    Or bust?

I wouldn't go that far. Especially with Brisset being gone.

Coker, really? He had a full National Championship team back, and when he lost them he lost his way. He never looked like he had it together. Muschamp has convictions and absolutely believes in the process. Totally different. Also, Coker did it the year after the NC while Muschamp did it when he had to put together the pieces himself, and the offensive pieces were laughably inadequate.
