Have ya'll heard the new recruiting rule...

  • Apparently A&M and Arky have sponsored a new rule that allows schools to host recruits off campus at their games.

For example, when Arky and A&M play at Jerry World, they can have recruits come and be a part of that atmosphere.

The reason I ask is because the UF/UGA game will be a HUGE HUGE HUGE recruiting tool for us. One that we've never been able to use in the past. If we can have our recruits in the stands in Jax, being a part of that atmosphere, it will sway alot of guys, especially OOS kids or kids from bigger cities.

Getting to be in a big city like Jax. Seeing all that goes along with that game. Seeing all those girls. The split crowd, the river, etc.. Also seeing how much of a UF feel Jax has, despite the stadium being split, will be really attractive for recruits imo. I really hope this rule passes and I suspect it will.

Traditionally, big SEC games or the FSU game have been our big draw at home. I predict the UGA game could become our biggest recruiting weekend when/if this rule passes. Being in an NFL stadium should help too.

  • The Red River Shootout between UT and OU hosts recruits as well. I think it is UF & UGA presidents that agreed to not hosting recruits for the game.

Said they did not want to set aside 300-400 tickets they would have to take away from Boosters .

Per #UGA: #Georgia & #Florida have agreed not to permit the "home" team to provide complimentary tickets to prospects.

My last tweet was in reference to #UGA vs #UF game in Jax & the SEC rule change that allows schools to host recruits for games off-campus.

  • Well shit.. What a total thread fail on my part.. Can't help but feel like we're really missing on a great chance to impress recruits. Even moreso than they would be at regular games.

I mean, Go visit Bama, LSU, UF, UGA, etc for big time home games. While UF is one of the loudest, it's not all that different than the rest. Bring recruits to the game in Jax and it gives them something different to keep in the front of their minds when making decisions. Maybe it doesn't matter to alot of them, but it certainly would to some, even prospects from the state of Georgia.

  • Isnt it that year's "home team" that would get the advantage? Even if for both teams, it would be a logistical nightmare to secure hotels, etc. to make that an official visit. And they wouldn't be on campus. I frankly think his was smart for UF and UGA.
