Sadly, and as I predicted once he didn't qualify at Michigan, we likely won't be hearing anything football-related with him again
Annese uncertain of former Michigan recruit Demar Dorsey's plans
By The Detroit News
Demar Dorsey, a highly-touted cornerback from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was one of 71 players notified earlier this year that the junior college he played for in 2011 has discontinued its football program
With Grand Rapids Community College folding it's 80-year-old JUCO football program, Dorsey's former GRCC coach Tony Annese believes Demar is back in Florida planning to attend a Junior College in the Fort Lauderdale area, his hometown. His former coach certainly didn’t have anything bad to say about Demar either, and wished him well.
If Dorsey (6'1" 190; 40: 4.2) is back in Ft. Lauderdale, he would most likely be going to Broward CC or maybe North Dade CC, but neither of these two JUCOs, nor any other Florida JC's, play football.
Hopefully, Dorsey didn’t just give up his dream of playing D-I football. Maybe it's possible that he’s trying to get his grades up and then attend a D-I school this fall. Miami has been mentioned a possible destination since the Canes were known to be looking at him in 2011.
However, most scouting services thought he was on track to be a 2013 JUCO transfer-recruit because of his prior issues with qualifying coming out of high school.
A UA All-American for the Class of 2010, Dorsey has not officially announced where he may attend next. He was once committed to Michigan and then to Louisville, but had NCAA Clearinghouse issues in both instances. During the 2011 season, Dorsey said Tennessee, Texas Tech along with the Hurricanes all expressed interest in adding him to their programs in the future.
Worries about his non-football future are raised by his return to his old stomping grounds, but hopefully Dorsey can stay away from the people who got him into trouble in the first place. It's certainly going to be far tougher to block out the bad influences down there compared to GRCC in Michigan.
