Current Gators in the NBA...

  • Of the current Gators in the NBA who would you pick to be on this years squad and why? Before you pick one, it has to replace the same position that it played for UF or there natural position. For an example, if you pick Brad Beal then he is either taking Mike Ro or Kenny B's spot this year. Natural 2 but played a lot of 3. I'm think I would take Chandler Parsons. Kid is absolutely balking in the league and he was great his senior year for us, plus he could hit a shot at the end of a game. I love what Rosario has done for UF this year and this is not a shot at him. Just would turn us in to a very long team and CP was very athletic at the 3 spot. He did a lot of things well.

  • David Lee. He is waaayyyyy better then Murph at the 4. I mean he is averaging a double double in the NBA and has a midrange game. Not good from 3 like Murph but he can hit the 15-18 footer. Great rebounder, good post game, good defense, and shoots it pretty well. Scottie, KB, Prather, Lee, and Young would be my starting 5. Can you imagine both Lee and Young down low?

Noah and no question about it! and i would take away murphy. the hustle and leadership he would add would make us GREAT.

Our frontcourt lack depth and adding Noah would makes us a national champion no doubt. Also Chandler Parsons would be a great addition as well. we could use that length on the wing!

    Young for Noah.

That's my vote, as well. I think you lose a lot if you trade Lee for Murphy without gaining much. Murphy already stretches the floor really well. Add Noah to that mix, and you're great. Lee doesn't add a ton that Murphy doesn't, IMO, while Noah adds a whole lot more than Young.

  • I can't believe no one wants Beal back for Boynton/Rosario. And as far as Noah goes, I believe I would take Horford over him. Noah got the energy no doubt but overall game I'm taking Big Al.

With Lee you get two big guys that you can use well in the post and rebound. Have Young come over for a high screen and free up Lee in the post. Have Young come over for a high screen with Lee in the post and roll Pat to the rim with Lee occupying the lane for Pat to get a good open look. All this is void now because Murph is not a threat in the post. Teams are killing Pat down low because they know he is the only one with a post game on the team so if they can keep him out of the paint and the post UF has no post game and is just a jump shooting 3 point team. Murph is not good on the glass either and is not a great defender, Lee is. If you take Pat away for Noah it is a similar team, if you take Murph away for Lee it is a whole new team with a presence down low with 2 guys that can block, rebound, and score down low just like the title teams with Horford and Noah. UF already has guys that shoot the 3 so I don't feel like taking Murph away would be a huge loss. If guys are worried about Pat and Lee down low they can kick if out to the open shooters for the 3's that Murph would take.

  • I guess I'm just still not high on what Young provides in the low post. I feel like Noah would be a massive upgrade.

I agree he would a huge upgrade over Young, I mean he is an NBA All-Star top 10 pick. I just feel like Taking Noah for Young wouldn't be a huge upgrade for the team.

  • Corey Brewer for Casey Prather? or are we saying starting positions? If thats the case then Nick Calathes for Scottie Wilbekin 1,000,000%

A starting lineup of Calathes, Boynton, Rosario, Murphy, and Young would be crazy good

  • Brewer at the 3 instead of rosario or boyton. Creates a versitle line up with the size from the '06 ''07 teams

I'd take Parsons over Brewer if it was today....

  • Al for Murphy, and I didn't really have to think about it much.

  • Actually, I would have to consider Miller over Boynton (since we don't have a real 3). We would lose something defensively, but we would have an athletic slasher (he used to be) who is not afraid to take the last shot in crunch time. If it's current Mike Miller, obviously not.

  • Noah over young should be a no brainer. He can hit free throws, much better defender, brings energy, and brings you energy and more offense in the low post. For all the size Young has it always looks like he's getting pushed around when battling guys close to his size. A center that can rebound and score consistently is the one piece that's missing from this team.

  • How none of you think that replacing Wilbekin with a more pure starting PG would be the biggest upgrade baffles me. We all saw what happened tuesday night. Aside from his big 3 towards the end Scottie was mostly held in check by a smaller PG. I don't want to upset anybody I think Scottie has been the biggest reason (along with MikeRo) that our team is where they are but at the same time its not hard to see that Scottie is not the most natural PG. He struggles with quickness, deception, and vision. (pretty much everything Pressey showcased against us in the 2nd half)

Once again, I am not taking anything away from Scottie. He is the best ball handler on a top 5 team and that says a lot to his talent, not to mention he is a top notch defender

First of all I would take Noah over Pat but I would pretty much take the entire 06/07 team over everybody. I mean we had Chris Richard and Mareese Speights as our bench bigs! With that being said I have to tell you that Noah is not that great of a scorer and never was at UF. He and Al were the perfect frontcourt combo. Have you ever seen Noahs jumper??? He may be better at shooting than Pat but not by much. Al possessed a better offensive arsenal with mid range jumpers and solid post moves. Although Noah scored he was much more of a clean up, put back, take the feed from a driving PG type player. Dont' get me wrong Noah could score on his own but to say he brings more offense to the low post than Pat is a debatable statement

So which point guard that played for UF and is in the NBA today would you take? Jason Williams is the only one I can think of and I'm not even sure he is still on a roster. I'm not gonna take the time to check because if he was on a team today, I would rather have SW over him... If it was today.

Nevermind, I totally forgot the post is about current NBA players and not open to any former UF players. I would replace him with Calathes or Green who both play professionally but not in the NBA. I'm not sure there is a UF PG in the NBA currently. My bad
