Most Importantly, this injury plus the Arkansas game will lower the expectations of this team nationally! trust me we are much better off letting UK get all the pub with their young team come tourney time and let florida stay under the radar. Billy's teams do much better this way.
It will also allow Prather and Walker (or another frosh) to gain valuable experience in feb and they should be much better prepared come the NCAA and SEC tourney.
Our team has gone through more adversity this year than in years past. we will be ready to face any team come tourney time and Billy will do a GREAT job getting this team to play together and not underestimate any other team out there. We dont have bunch of NBA prospects on this team like UK or even Duke but we have very very good college players who can beat anyone when we are playing well! still like our team to be a 1-4 seed come NCAA time so no worries!
If he is back by the tourney It's whatever...not like we will fall apart because of him missing. May lose at mizzou or UK because of it..but we need him in the tourney...he is extremely important to this team for all the extra stuff he does stats don't show...great defender, makes the hustle plays, high basketball iq, team player...love this guy and hope he gets back before the tourney.
Yeah, who knows what doors this may open for someone to step up and make a huge contribution to the team? Prather, Walker, etc.
I'm pretty sure Prather will step up. He knows DFS is coming and now is his time. He played well early on and in the NCAAs last year. We will be fine! Will Y will play at Rupp this year too. Write it down!
i hope he does...doesn't see it happening though!
I had the same injury, plus a partial tear in my mcl when I was in HS. I had arthroscopic surgery on the knee and was back on the football field in 4 weeks. I didn't have access to Drs 24/7 nor did I rehab with a PT everyday. The good thing about this surgery is the swelling is minimal, and you can still bend the knee. Will will be able to stay in some kind of shape. He can ride a stationary bike, walk on a treadmill and maybe do some light jogging 5-6 days after surgery. After about 15-20 days he will feel 100% but the Drs will be very cautious with him. We all know if Donovan says 4-6 weeks it's probably more like 3 weeks. I'm optimistic he plays, before the SEC tourney! JMO!
The only good things about this injury in my mind are:
1. If he gets back, Yeguete's knees will be rested. HIs tendonitis should be better. I am thinking if all goes well tomorrow, he may be cleared in around 3 weeks.
2. Prather will get the minutes to get back in to playing well.
It certainly will not tamp down national expectations. Nationally only serious fans have even heard of Yeguete.
