Two more good spots for gameday weekends. I should be living right next to World of Beer next year, which could be dangerous.
Need to try out this Shuck restaurant which is right by where I live now.
Shuck Restaurant recently opened at 1643 NW First Ave., behind 101 Cantina and The Swamp Restaurant in the spot that last housed O!O Garden Grille for two years and Cafe Gardens for 34 years before that.

OMG World of Beer is awesome....been to the one in Savannah and in Arlington, TX....like a better version of Yardhouse
4 Rivers will dominate
Have also heard great things about this place.
I fear that Rivers is overexpanding and the quality at the original (and the closer one to me in Winter Garden) will suffer.
aren't there only like 4 or 5 of them?
I go to the WOB in Ft Myers all the time. Love that place.
Goons belong in hockey.
town of tioga huh? wow jonesville is blowin up lol
And that's a first down!
What's the place by stubby's that has the 140 beers on tap? I thought that was a WOB for some reason
No I did not lose a sig bet, but I am really really really ridiculously good looking.
Agreed. WOB is a fine establishment. Glad to have one in town.
It's the second "craft beer" pub to open in Gainesville this year. The Brass Tap, which also is based in Tampa like WOB, opened on Archer Road, which slowly is getting a much-needed facelift.
Gainesville House of Beer.

Shuck citrus relish oysters are easily the best oysters I have ever consumed in Gainesville fwiw. The fries were meh
That's it. Thanks.
The parking where brass tap is-is god awful though, not as bad as parking in the penara on archer plaza but still pretty bad.
Never thought craft beer places would do well in college towns. There was a smaller place downtown and it was always an older crowd. I never saw students in there. Don't think paying upwards of $6 - $10 for a draft is something in the standard college student budget. I've seen kids at The Swamp pinching pennies about buying a pitcher of crap beer.
I know G'ville is a town of families as well, but it always seemed that the majority of the establishments going in catered to the student population. Maybe that is changing.
The Brass Tap in Lakeland has been tearing up the numbers. I think it's doing better than its other locations around the state.
Brass Tap in Gainesville's doing phenomenal from what I've seen.
I think it's frat guys and sorority girls that drink themselves into oblivion that generally are the penny-pinching Swamp, Balls, Grog types. I had a ton of friends who would hit up places like Stubbies, Tall Paul's, etc. while in college.
Now World of Beer is far enough out there that I do have legit concerns about how well it will do there long-term. But the rest of the craft brew places seem to be doing pretty well here.
It's definitely a trend right now. Good to know. Also, had a new Lagunitas yesterday that was quite good. It's called Undercover Investigation Shut Down. If you enjoy ales, check this one out. Interesting story behind it as well.
