I can't think of another coach who deserves it over Billy. Almost all other teams under-achieved. Also, it's hard to believe Billy has only won the award 1 time!
I could care less who wins it , but if UK beats Georgia and UF that meatball in Lexington still has a case for it .
Donovan should be the SEC coach on the year. The national may well be Crean or Beilein both of whose teams have arrived nationally this year. Crean's team, IU, was more expected than Beilein's team Michigan.
I think national coach of the year will be Larranaga. They love to give it to coaches who's teams exceed expectations.
No way. They were preseason top 5 in the nation and were underperforming even before Noel went down.

If they finish 1 game behind UF in the SEC without Noel , He will get some votes for SEC coach of the year( Like it or not )
The whole premise of this statement is incorrect. They had Noel for 11 of their 18 conference games, and they were average even when he was healthy.
I think even Calipari himself would admit he's done a bad job coaching his team this year. He even called them "uncoachable" not too long ago. He has at least 3 first Rounders playing for him right now (not including Noel) and they will be lucky to get in the tournament. Anyone who votes him COY should have his/her vote taken away.
For national, the obvious choice is Larranaga. That team came out of NOWHERE, and they'll more than likely win the ACC outright.
The ACC considers the tournament winner as Conference Champ. Learned this from my Nole friends last year.
But yes, your point is on point.
Calling them uncoachable is Cal's way of not taking the blame.
If I recall correctly, Donovan has never won Sec COY... Travesty that needs correcting if so.
I live in NC and everyone has a different opinion about this. It usually just depends on who is winning that decides which way the argument goes but I can say that the ACC tournament is a BIG BIG deal in ACC country
He won in 2011
He won it in 2011, I think, but yes, it was much too late.
Billy the Kid, age 48,
5 SEC Championships,
2 National Championships...
Take into consideration he hasn't played with a full roster this season due to the injury bug. He should win hands down.
Have to consider Grant & Fox after that IMO.
