At Jacksonville, The Rock boys basketball team won its first state title in school history with a 64-56 victory over Arlington Country Day on Saturday in the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association Tournament finals.
Junior guard Mitchell Wilbekin was named SIAA Tournament MVP and led all scorers with 15 points, fueled by 10-of-13 shooting from the free-throw line.
Wilbekin was one of four scorers to reach double figures for the Lions, including Christian Benzon (11), Glenn Feidanga (10), Pape Diatta (10) and Joel Embiid (10).
Embiid, a Kansas signee, also hauled in a team-high 14 rebounds.
The Rock, which finished third in last year's tournament, finishes with a 33-4 record.
What are our chances with him and how good is he?
Here is an article on him from a Gator hoops recruiting site:
He sounds like a solid player, as well as a good kid.
amazing how small that place is and its best school to play bball in town? lol you'd think ghs would be or even eastside

Yeah, I want him but only if we can't lock up Grayson and Lee

The Rock left the FHSAA so they could recruit and become a basketball factory...not a level playing field...and GHS was very good this season, mase State Final 4 and returns most everyoen next season....
I don't think either of those guys will have any effect on whether or not we offer M. Wilbekin. We'll need a wing and a PG in 2014.
What's so great about Richard Lee ?
Big physical combo guard. Whats not to like??
I am not big on Lee, he's a 6 2 SG, enough of those.
I have seen him play a few times. I love his game. Mitchell is not any bigger...
I haven't seen Lee. Is he very good at creating off the dribble ? Is he very athletic ?

Mitchell is a PG, Lee is not...big difference IMO....we need to lock up Allen....gonna be a battle but we need to lock up these locally grown top 50 kids most all of the time IMO
But M. Wilbekin is not a SG.
Lee could play pg in a pinch. Have you seen him in person bullis?? Im sure we take wilbekin if we miss on a top guy but theres a reason richard hasa scholly and mitchell doesnt... not trying to downgrade mitchell, I love the wilbekins but I think lee is a very good player. He plays with a tonof swagand would be a fun gator... Swag!!

Pretty sure Lee has no UF offer, he can claim on all he wants, but he cannot commit to UF at this time, same as Mitchell....I don't doubt he will land at a high major school, just don't see it being UF....
so bullis besides allen, who else do we have a great shot at landing? seems like we are not on too many top 50 kids in 2014?
it is super early....
Might be a conditional offer. We will see buddy! Either way I think we are in good shape at guard in '14
I think so too....iMO we must get Allen
