DL coaching/play....those in the know are aware he was a GREAT DL coach at UF, hammering technique and fundamentals and really developing the DL over 2 years....every single guy improved, and most noticeably from last year, and DQ was the driving force behind that....I am not worried about recruiting or overall D play with WM as HC, but we really must get a topflight guy to coach the DL and continue that teaching aspect
Bullis cmon there is like 12304873494780 threads on Quinn put that in one of those.
HOWEVER your statement is correct
We will, Muschamp knows the line (both sides) is the most important thing in the SEC.
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
1000% agree Bullis (feels weird saying)
Agreed. If we don't get a great hire on the DL, I'll be a little worried...
Go take a shower
How do you feel about VHII?
As I posted elsewhere, imo Durkin's mind is like a "sponge" in a good sense, which could in part explain his rise in the coaching circles. When Quinn was addressing a few players at a time, Durkin was always lurkin.
I'm sure Bryant Young learned quite a bit from Quinn the past two years. Hopefully that translates to the DTs. We need another good DL coach/recruiter for the DEs and we'll be fine IMO.
UF...ASSOC OF AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES MEMBER...3-TIME FOOTBALL NATL CHAMPION..2-TIME BASKETBALL NATL CHAMPION..33 ATHLETIC NATL CHAMPIONSHIPS!
I am not disagreeing, but what has Bryant Young been doing the past 2 years?
I guess no one really knows for sure how much of the solid DL play was do to Quinn and Young. I mean, Quinn coached DE's and Young coached DT's, but I'd be shocked if Quinn didn't overlook the whole line considering how players talked about him and Young's lack of coaching experience.
I hope Young learned a lot from Quinn, but I'm not sure I'm willing to bank on that by not trying to hire someone who can really coach DL.
Was interesting Muschamp said Durkin would continue to coach LB's so soon. I thought the fact Durkin coached DE's at Stanford would have afforded Muschamp a little more flexibility in bringing in the best defensive assistant he could.
I would still bet when all is said and done BY ends up in Seattle with Quinn
