Playing off the postseason eval for the defensive end position, what's your confidence level that Ronald Powell will return healthy and effective?
Do you see him starting at buck next year?
Do you see him starting elsewhere?
Does he play a backup role at this point?
Are you worried at all he might not be the same player post-injury?

I'm expecting he makes an AP type return
I think his knee will be fine, but it may take him a few games to get back in game shape and rhythm. I don't know if he will start right away but he will get plenty if snaps. I think he is a starter by game 3 but he could do better than expected and start day 1.
I hope he stays healthy. He seems like a good kid and I hope he can be a force off the edge this year.
We haven't heard much since his setback and that concerns me.
"You're not a good guy, you go somewhere else. We'll play you. We'll beat you."
Tough to say. I mean, no one's told me what exactly happened during the setback so I don't know. But ACL's aren't really a big deal anymore, so I'd think he'd return to being a solid SEC player...probably at SAM.
So it'll be like his freshman year again?
I'm expecting top 3 in SEC in sacks.
I have a hard time envisioning him beating out Fowler at BUCK, but SAM is there for the taking. I think he'll realize/test the health of his knee during the spring and expect him to be full go by August (as long as he doesn't have any setbacks before then). Hopefully he's 100% by the time camp starts.
He'll be fine wherever he ends up, he's Ronald Freaking Powell

I selfishly want to see him at one of the 3 regular LB spots, with Dante at Buck and Bullard/Easley at the DE spots.
I expect him to start at Buck with Fowler at DE. It could be opposite though. I think he's gonna come back better than ever.
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
I'm reserving my opinion until, I see him out there with the other guys this spring!!!
The fact that there is now huge competition will make him an absolute beast and 5 times better than before. Gonna have an epic year!!
I am rolling like this.
also up - vote this.
and will say.
move over fowler jr
daddy is back.
Think he comes back and becomes All Sec at OLB..posting 10+ sacks.. Kid is a natural there imo. Never was a fan of Ropo playing DE.
I agree with those who want him at OLB. Use him like Jarvis Jones.

100% confident and enthusiastic about his return... ACL surgeries seem to have become pretty routine over the last decade and a positive prognosis more likely than ever before.
OLD or SAM if he takes Fowlers spot at Buck its not a good sign bc we need fowler there hes the best pass rusher we have...
I thought he wasn't gonna be back until after spring ball
He will be fine.
Hopefully moves to Sam, unless he has lost some lateral movement.
"Who was your source? Church mice in here....." - Coach Muschamp
he looked huge when hugging teddy bridgewater after lousiville debacle -- looks like he has hit gym hard at least in his 8-9mths away from field
has anyone seen him around campus? crazy he missed the entire year no?? he tore ACL April 2012 during spring game
normal rehab I guess is 6-8 mths....so that gets us to year end 2012 normal timeline to return to field....so did he even practice in bowl practices?? anyone see him out there? IF answer NO then I got to question how his rehab / surgery is taking
damn shame -- kid is a physical specimen and insiders were saying staff were most hyped that he'd have a NFL springboard year this past yr prior to injury ....hope he fully heals up and is a force for us -- he will be what a Rs JR this year?
He had a setback. I don't know the extent of that "setback," but I imagine he re-tore it....
Re-tears are nasty, I don't think it was a ACL Reinjury.
Don't know, but my opinion is joint swelling & healing of the other ligaments in the joint. He was trying to rehab too much / too fast.
Takes a good year to recover from a full ACL tear. JMO

Florida was sketchy at best on the details of the "setback," but I'm almost positive Powell had a second reconstructive surgery on the ACL.
not much i hope he can come back and have a big yr tho hate to see a top recruit just fade away cuz of injury

Any time you have an issue with an ACL again before getting back on the field ... well, there's a chance things don't work out well. Hope for Powell's sake that's not the case here.
