The NCAA gave them two more years probation, restrictions on official visits, complementary tickets to visitors in their first two SEC home games next year, a three year show cause to an asst coach under Kiffin, and a decrease in evaluation days by 4
Apparently after the NCAA gave them sanctions, more info came out about Garza's relationship with a UT booster.
How bad must it suck to be reminded of Kiffin year after year? This is bad timing considering they're looking for a new coach right now. Word here in Nashville is that Gruden is very likely to be their next coach.
Washington Post reports that Gruden contacted Raheem Morris to ask if he's interested in being his DC at the college level. Also reports that he's contacted Rich Brishillo (sp) about joining his staff. He was under Gruden at Tampa Bay as well. Looks like there are legs to this.. Weird and dangerous hire imo, if it happens. It will definitely help them recuit and get their roster up to par with the rest of the SEC, which is what they're missing right now.
That top part sucks, more problems because of Kiffin, what a d bag
AND the Gruden stuff I will believe it when I see it
Al davis was right about Kiffen
I can't wait to see what Miami gets.
Kiffin hire just keeps on screwing tenn
LORD FORGIVE ME FOR THE GOON DADDY IS COMING OUT TONIGHT
I live in Tennessee and was in Nashville yesterday, listening to there sports radio channel... I think it was Ron Jaworski they had on and he works with Gruden on MNF. Anyway, tifwiw but Jaws was saying Gruden was very intrigued by college ball and was in contact with a few people trying to get a staff together. Let on like he really thought Gruden would take the UT job.
This. Until I see him at a podium for a presser, I refuse to believe it.
I can confirm with 100% accuracy that Gruden to UT is being discussed by both sides. The booster that I know over there has said that it's not even close to a done deal, but Gruden is more open to coming to UT than he expected. They do have some back-up plans as well. He still put the possibility of Gruden coming to UT at 25%, but he's overly cautious by nature. Gruden's salary demands aren't as high as people initially speculated. He said that they aren't even in the negotiation process but the tires are being kicked on both sides. He still doesn't expect Gruden to make the jump, though.
The UT folks are saying Gruden asked for something around 5 Million a year for 10 years, with atleast 4 million per year for his staff.
Thats really not all that bad. UT has had one of the highest coaching budgets in the nation for many years now. Remember how much they were paying Kiffens staff? They're still paying Fulmer and now they'll be paying Dooley and his staff (8million) plus a new coach.
Word is, Peyton Manning has pledged a ton of money to the AD and is very involved in trying to get Gruden to UT.
The booster that I know has golfed with Peyton in some of the charity events he puts on. They aren't close friends, but they keep in touch a little bit. He hasn't talked to Peyton in a little while, but he knows that Peyton likes Gruden. Peyton was really burned by the way UT treated David Cutcliffe during the last hiring process, but alot of the people involved in that what went on are gone. So Peyton has lightened up and is back in the fold. I couldn't tell you anything definite about what Gruden wants salary wise, but I know it's not anything that will scare them off.
Hahahahahahaha...serves 'em right!
Have a hard time believing he would go to a place on probation.
agreed, Gruden can have his pick of the places he wants
and he would be a disaster trying to develop college kids
Tell me how on earth Gruden can become the head coach of the Vols...
...when he's already coaching the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators???
I agree with this.. Every delusional Vol fan is already saying Gruden will own the SEC east, just like they said the same about Kiffin.
Honestly, Gruden is the big name and would bring top recruits his first year or two, but then the results would start to matter and eventually he and his staff would have to work just as hard as everyone else to develop relationships and recruit HS kids from their sophmore years on.
I just don't think he's anywhere NEAR a safe pick for UT in a time they absolutely MUST make a good hire. If I'm UT, I'm going all out for Peterson/Patterson and several other good and proven college coaches before I'd hire Gruden.
Raheem Morris as their DC... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
OMG Please let that be true.
That other name is probably Rich Bisaccia, was Special teams coach during Grudens tenure here in Tampa.
