Insti is right. Look at Reggie Evans for the Nets. Zero offensive game but consistent roster spot and playing time for rebounding and defense. Pat Young will have a solid NBA career
1. Being SEC player of the year has NOTHING to do with being an NBA prospect. In some sense Parsons was named SEC player of the year because there was no clear cut candidate and the SEC was embarrassed that some how they managed to overlook Walk, Maxwell, Miller, Haslem, Lee, Noah, Brewer, etc.
2. What Parsons has done in the NBA has nothing to do with how he was viewed as a prospect while at UF. There is a reason he stayed 4 years and was a second round pick. You have to remember how things were at the time Parsons was at UF and not let his NBA career make you forget the perception at the time.

Why is pat y being compared to reggie evans? Pat looks like he can rebound like reggie but grabs 6 rebs a game in college while reggie grabs 11 a game in NBA
What makes anyone think Pat will double his rebound production in NBA , likely with less minutes? If he can't do it in college what makes anyone think his rebounding game is better suited for nba? Just about every draft board has him as a late 2nd rder and only chad ford has him at 29th pick in rd 1
The point stands...mich other programs in elite 8 have 1-2 first rd type kids on roster for most part ...UF has no go to get his own shot/buckets guy but what we do have is 4-5 grown ass battle scarred vets who will play ball in europe/russia/spain etc one day
I've watched like three Michigan replay games at work so far and noticed a few things.
1. We won't stop the guards from scoring, but they can stop themselves, and if they aren't shooting well they literally fall apart. If we can contest and make them take tough shots burke will force things.
2. They don't defend screen play well at all. They really don't. They roll under far to much on jump shooters and over at the weigh times to allow easy paint paths. They don't negate the off ball screen well either nor do they defend the transition three well.
3. We can out rebound them.
Those three things lead me to believe we have a pretty good shot. It really depends on who hits shots. We are better on defense so I'd our shots hit around 43-50 percent we win.
We caught a huge break with Michigan beating Kansas. This will feel like neutral court as opposed to road game atmosphere. I can't say enough how big that was.
kansas shot 54 percent from the filed tomorrow. Michigan doesnt guard and if we can contain Burke we will win this game.
+1....we need him to get his 20 pts on like 7-20, not 8-14 with a ton of FT
Young is going to be here for 4 years and is projected as a 2nd rounder. I don't get it
I agree we've had a great season, BUT we are not done yet! Let's go! Let's beat Michigan!!
One thing we know is, if we play D like last night and but up anything close to the offense we had tge first half of the Minnesota game, we can beat anybody.
Point is that Pat Youngs subpar offensive abilities are not going to keep him out of the league. If his offense was really that big of a deal do you think scouts would have him going in the 1st rd?
Also, Pat spends a lot of time boxing out, rotating help defense, and extending his defense out to the ark. Other people on our team rebound because Pat takes the bullet. He is 6'9" 250 with good hops and plays hard. Pat will have much better board numbers in the NBA than he does at UF

I think if anything we will have the crowd.
Better spacing in the NBA. Better players around you.
Do you really think teams go into games against us with an emphasis on keeping ANY of our starters off the glass other than Pat? Hell, pat is usually battling HIS big and MURPHY'S big for rebounds.
UF plays excellent defense. Accordingly the Gators have a great opportunity.
Seems like everyone makes excuses for Pat Young. Other bigs with NBA talents in similar situations produce more. Young simply does not produce and that is not going to all of a sudden change in the NBA (of all places).
Beatings will continue until morale improves
Then why will he be a first rd pick? Sorry but I trust the judgement of NBA scouts over some randoms on a message board.
I love Pat, but he is far from a lock for the first round. I've seen alot of mocks with him in the second round. No biggie though..... Parsons, Haslem, Bonner, Maxwell.... none of them were first rounders. The latter three all had or currently are enjoying long NBA careers. The first guy is already a starter in year 2 for a playoff team. Hell, David Lee barely went in the first round at number 30 (probably best-case scenario for Pat), and he's a 2-time all-star. I also think NBA teams would be wise to take looks at Murphy and Rosario as potential steals in the second round. Rosario has shown the ability to take the ball to the basket and create his own shot to go along with his terrific shooting from deep. Good defender too. A little undersized for an NBA 2 guard, but there's alot to like about his game IMO. With Murphy, he falls into the category of what NBA teams are looking for now. 6'10 guy who can score inside and also step outside and hit the deep ball. Tough guy to guard. Neither guy is a first round talent, but both can play in the NBA IMO.

Really! Last summer he was projected by NBA scouts to go late in the 1st or early in the 2nd round. And this was from actual team scouts! NBA teams draft based on potential (3 yrs) in the league. Not on college game day play or performance each game. Everyone knows Pat has the ability & potential to dominate in the paint on any given day, he just needs to decide to do it & prove to everyone he has what it takes every game.
If drafts were based on looks alone - he's a top 10 pick!!
