Strong words from Steve Spurrier today, per Daryl Slater of the Post and Courier on Twitter.
Daryl Slater: Spurrier on DL coach Brad Lawing's departure for Florida: "I don't feel like we're going to miss coach Lawing."
Staff reporter. Twitter: www.twitter.com/Goldkamp247 | Facebook: www.facebook.com/swamp247
Still has his fastball
"You're not a good guy, you go somewhere else. We'll play you. We'll beat you."
LOL, good old Spurrier.
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
Spurrier gonna spurrier
with guys like clowney and sutton coming back he can feel pretty good about the dline next yr after that they might start to miss him

Spurrier may not have even known his team had a defense....Just a bunch of guys who took the field while he yelled at the quarterback
He knows recruiting, do we expect him to really say "The best D-line coach in the Country now resides at my alma-mater in Gainesville, FL"?
This is what you say when you will miss someone
Correct and he is not GOING to miss him they already are. Replacement won't realty help recruiting that much and is a very new and inexperienced coach, especially I'n a LOS league.
Here's his full comment.
He's so blunt, still love Spurrier. Why do the media guys have to give back the $100 bill? If I got it right, I'd be keeping it. Most reporters aren't millionaires like TG.
Wow now I know why coaches hate the media... that guy tweeted out that quote WAY out of context..
Conflict of interest, that would be a pretty big ethical no-no for a reporter to keep the money.
When I was a reporter, I wouldn't keep it....possibly donate it to charity
I think this quote about the new coach, from what we've heard, may have been a shot at Lawton, "He's a good family man"
"Who was your source? Church mice in here....." - Coach Muschamp
One forgets how ethical the media is.
Gunga galunga...gunga -- gunga galunga
You guys do realize there is a story to why he left for UF right? He had been at USC on and off for 16 years and suddenly decides to leave within 2 days and Spurrier doesn't attempt to match the offer or get him to stay. Ask your insiders what the real story is. He had the best player in the nation (Heisman contender coming back) wouldn't you think that would be the year you would want to stay (if you could stay another year)
The guy is a great coach and good evaluator of talent, he is a lazy recruiter. There are other issues. Ask about Carlos Dunlap situation? Good news is, state of Florida has TONS of talent and UF gets almost everyone they want so his lack of recruiting won't make a difference in that state and with UF's tradition of winning.
You got that right.
You guys do realize there is a story to why he left for UF right?
Yes, but prob not what you are refering to. Fresh place to start after big D and more $. Real simple actually.
He had been at USC on and off for 16 years and suddenly decides to leave within 2 days and Spurrier doesn't attempt to match the offer or get him to stay.
Thought it was 18 years total, and it was not like that at all. In fact discussion had been going on for over a week fyi.
Ask your insiders what the real story is. He had the best player in the nation (Heisman contender coming back) wouldn't you think that would be the year you would want to stay (if you could stay another year)
Thereis no "real story" as you imply. He could have stayed but chose not to.
The guy is a great coach and good evaluator of talent, he is a lazy recruiter.
That so called lazy recruiter has been burning the trail since getting to UF, tells me something about USCe if you want to be honest.
There are other issues. Ask about Carlos Dunlap situation?
Should we talk about Bo jackson as well? Rumors, Rumors etc. If true then who cares and how long ago. (You want to hear some Spurrier stories that will blow your mind)? I like the fire and so does all of the USCe DL he coached. There is a reason they became as good as they are. Ask Clowney what Lawing has done for him.
Good news is, state of Florida has TONS of talent and UF gets almost everyone they want so his lack of recruiting won't make a difference in that state and with UF's tradition of winning.
Lack of recruiting? I suggest you read up on where he has been and what he has been doing. Looks like his old self from back in the day as a recruiting coordinator, some would say he actually has a reason to recruit again. Some places are worth the extra effort when other just don't attract the nations elite that often.
Sounds like YOUR insiders might be feeding you a bag of crap.
havent been following the lawing drama....see we poached cocks dline coach ....question is if he is such a great teacher / technique guy why hasnt anyone ever heard of him or has his name been up for bigger programs / nfl openings in past? (maybe it has but just not aware).....seems odd that he'd be at usce for 18yrs if the guy is a stud in profession
what are his ties to muschamp?
whats all this about a messy divorce or something and he just needed to get out of town so he took the UF job?
does look like he has coached some NFL talent so he has that certainly
Ah, the ole "We never really liked/wanted him" excuse. How original.
All he's saying is, life goes on.
One assistant doesn't make a program.
I don't think Steve said anything out of bounds or over the top.
Pretty basic statement.
On Twitter: @Niebuhr247
"I don't feel like we're going to miss coach Lawing" doesn't sound like he was saying "life goes on"
"Coach Lawing was a great coach, but we are going to be fine" sounds like "life goes on"
But UF fans know as much as anyone, the Head Ball Coach doesn't say things without at least a little needle.
