Here's what I want to know from anyone with a clue or knowledge. We have seen numerous games where the officials make terrible calls or don't make calls at all. The 2012 season saw numerous garbage officiating situations such as the USCe, FSU, and UGA games. In basketball, the Ole Miss game comes to mind.
Now, do these guys get penalized or in any trouble for being bad at their job or is it like being a weather man where you can call it wrong 9 times out of 10 and remain employed for 25 years?
I know they get evaluated every game. But idk if they get punished
Regular spankings, I believe. Problem is, the crappy refs kinda like it.
Gunga galunga...gunga -- gunga galunga
LOL.... guess it depends on whose doing the spanking....

Beatings will continue until morale improves
I believe they get evaluated for post season honors which probably amount to bonuses plus extra pay.... I'm also sure that the season evaluations also go into retention and standings for the next season's pairings if retained.... If the regularly grade out well then they probably fall into higher ranges of pay; however as we know sometimes grading out as champions according to the coaches doesn't mean you played well in the game.
I was a high school official for many years and I can tell you that sometimes you just cannot blow the whistle and somet8imes what looks one way on the floor looks another way up close and personal. In one game I blew a call and realized moments later that I blew it-I walked over the the coach who was yelling all sorts of things at me and said, "Coach, you are right, I blew that one and I am sorry". Coach just shut up and sat down. I never did make up calls-just did the best I could do every night-sometimes I made mistakes-it happens.
And that's a first down!
I guess I'll post on another thread here while I'm here. Well I agree about officiating, and from everyone I've heard it's been AWFUL this year. Which is refreshing because I thought I was the only one that was legitimately upset with officiating this year. I don't know what it is, but it seems overall they're just making A LOT of bad calls. Like in the UK-Florida game, I can tell you there were a good amount of times where Young would meet Noel under the basket or vice versa, and usually no call. But then, they call a foul on a hand check. Sometimes it makes no sense, but I do know one thing, they refuse to call blocks this year unless they think he's too far under the basket. Evidence, I think they called 1 block the entire game last night on either team. Yes, officials do get evaluated at the end of the year, but I feel like the officials get this feeling like they're untouchable to an extent. I mean, just their demeanor on the court tells you that, not to mention their very quick T's this year. I don't know how it's been for you guys, but that's just my experience.
