Not sure what exactly to make of this, but Phil Steele's computer projection has the Gators going 11-1, with their only loss to a 12-0 Florida State.

That sets up like 96
As much as I'd hate another loss to FSU, I'd take that season in a heartbeat.
Well... If that comes to fruition... Welcome back to the 90s cfb, prepare your anus.
Damn I hope he is right!

Maybe his computer is coming back from a two-year sabbatical. It couldn't have watched the last UF-FSU matchup.
What did his computer have us going last year?

He also said, today on espnu, that UF will have the #1 defense in the sec.
Sounds about right
LORD FORGIVE ME FOR THE GOON DADDY IS COMING OUT TONIGHT
He was on ESPNU today hyping UF big time. Said our defense will be the BEST IN THE SEC. Better than Bama/LSU/UGA.
He said we have the best special teams in the nation and enough offense to win alot with the defense and St's helping out.
I agree with him in that if you told me an entire defense was back, and an entire offense and ST's, with a second year staff, than that team would have a great year
. I guess I just can't buy it until I see it. Alot of the skepitical nature stems from the last two years being so bad. If this was five years ago and we returned this much on our team, I'd expect a title contender. It should be no different now, yet I feel differently.. On the outside looking in, this should be a good year. No way in hell anything less than 8 wins should be acceptable. Honestly, even 8 wins would be very "meh" for this year. 9-3 is something I can get excited about regarding this staffs future.
Its cliche, but it honest to God comes down to the OL and QB play. If they're average, we win alot this year.
Best gif EVER!
OK, ring the bell for Steele. That means we are SEC champs!
AHAHAHAHAHA! I haven't laughed that hard in a while, thank you! That GIF sums up my feelings on this subject quite well!
I actually put a lot of stock into Steele, having read up on his methodology and followed him over the past few years. Now, I don't think Florida is going 11-1, but I think he's got some good points on Florida.
FWIW, he had Florida as overrated at No. 22 last year.
Two of the major criteria I know he looks at and factors in heavily are turnover margin and close games. His general rule of thumb is that a team that lost almost all of its close games in the previous year but returns a bunch of players from the previous year typically ends up winning most of their close games the following year. Likewise, defenses that return a lot of veterans who struggled to force turnovers often turn it around the following year and come out with a bunch.
We know how much a handful of turnovers would have helped Florida last year, so it could really change the outlook of the season if Florida starts forcing them by the bunches.
Neither one of those points are an exact science
Oops how about IN the SEC Championship game!
Agreed, that's why I'm still in wait-and-see mode. But I can buy into the fact that Florida could go 9-3 or MAYBE, MAYBE even 10-2 if all the breaks go right.
I'm the exact same way. Said the same thing this morning on tBB. I have us at 9 wins but could easily see us winning ten or more with some good breaks and min. injuries.
