has faith in the Gators basketball team. Prediction today.....
#3 Fla 80 (100%) - # 235 Miss. St. 44 (0%). Spread + 36.5 pts.
Massey was off the mark a tad in the Arky prediction last Tues. Will be interesting to see this weeks version & patchwork by Billy without Will & a less than 100% Casey P.! I'm pretty sure we will see a more humble version of the Gators later today!! Heard they had a bad case of the ''bighead'' when they went to AR.!! Ranking went to their heads!!
It feels like forever since we last played! Let's beat them down! Go Gators!
I would like to point out one fact with regards to where teams are ranked in the AP today so we keep things in perspective. 5 of the top 10 Ranked AP Teams have lost since last Saturday & more will follow in the next 1-2 weeks.
If Fla can win the remaining home games (5) - which they should even without Will & maybe Casey at 75% & 2 of 4 road games (AU, KY, TN & MO), that should give us the SEC Reg. season Title & #1 seed in the SEC Tourney in 4 weeks. Will should be back & Casey should be back to 100% provided he doesn't get hurt again. Hope we don't have any more injuries as well. Then we win 1-2 games in the tourney, possibly win it, we should get a top 2-4 seed in the NCAA worst case scenario.
Bottom line - the noose only gets tighter the next 3 weeks! Gotta trust Billy & staff to navigate thru the storms. I think they will do fine!
Need more Dillon Grahm IMO
Maybe next season. He appears to still be adjusting to the added wt gain & muscle wt they've put on him. Heard he was up to 188, came in at 175 7 months ago. Don't really need him a lot this year with two Sr. McDonalds All Americans in front of him. Frazier already at 200+, so he has the body/size to play the 3 where they need him the most, similar to Beal. Still wish Billy would mix the Freshman in with the Jrs & Srs with 20+ pt leads for 5-7 minutes per game in order to prepare for next season & in the event player(s) suffer injuries. Today, you have DeVon Walker that gets tossed in the fire due to Will & Casey and he has little to no game experience 21 games into the season. The good news is he goes up against the #2 ranked starters in practice everyday, so something can be said for that kind of preparation & experience. Billy knows what he's doing, but sometimes you just have to toss the youngun's out of the nest to make em fly. So we'll see. Gators will be fine!
Seems like Billy has always done that, but it sure seems to work for him. Sometimes it seems like kids don't even play much and then all of a sudden come tourney time the get increased mins. I know we need more mins out of everybody then but it seems like that is when Billy always gets kids where he wants them.
No way we win this game by 36 points. I'll take that action all day long. We're banged up, missing Yeguete, and we've probably been whipped to shreds by BD this week in practice after that Arkansas debacle. We'll win, and comfortably so, but not 80-44. No way.
Sitting 6th row behind MSU bench today, CAN'T wait!
The betting line was UF -30 last night.
BTW, in the two games before LSU, Yale and UGa, when Murphy was hobbled a bit with his ribs and Yeguete's knees were acting up some, Prather played 26 and 21 minutes respectively and scored 9 against Yale and 10 against UGa. He also grabbed 6 rebounds against Yale and 7 rebounds against UGa. So Prather getting back to 20ish minutes will nicely replace Yeguete. Frazier may get a few more minutes and he scores better than Yeguete and is a solid rebounder too.
To me the issues are post defense and defensive rebounding. Any team UF plays whose 4 is 6'8" or less, UF will be fine with Prather who is listed only one inch shorter than Yeguete. Against teams with bigger 4s, Prather or Frazier will have to push the catch further from the basket. A four will not want to put the ball on the floor against them. Rarely will a four even want to try to back them down. However if taller 4 can catch the ball deep on them, they will just shoot over either Prather or Frazier. Also Prather or Frazier need to get a body on the 4 immediately after a shot to prevent a offensive rebound put back. Their lack of size mean any offensive rebound by their guy is likely to be an easy put back.
So to see how well UF is replacing Yeguete, I would look at:
1. How many minutes Prather is playing and what his points and rebounding stats are.
2. Is the opponent's 4 able to catch the ball in deep and turn and score over Prather/Frazier.
3. Is UF giving up more offensive rebounds.

100 percent lol.
Make that 6 top 10 teams have now lost!!. Wisky just beat Mich 65-62 in OT. The basketball Gods are in WI today. Kid hit a half court 3 with a second left to take it to OT! Incredible game to watch!!
Actually 4 of the top 5 in the AP have lost this week!! IN, FL, MI & KS!! Wild ride we're seeing this season. Just wait till March gets here. There will surely be madness!!
That's what Massey rates it. Not sure what the Vegas odds are?
Ehh...its still possible..try to prove Arkansas was a fluke.
Anyone have a link for the game? I don't live in FLA
Arky looked pitiful today at Vandy--got blown out. Couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a base fiddle. Shot around 30%!!
Just goes to show they are two dif teams at home & away. Can't look past any team in the SEC on the road from here on out!
We can look past miss state...but yea Arkansas is so different at home it is insane...I don't think they've won a game on the road yet.
