Just a heads up, games about to start. If the US could steal this from Mexico in Mexico City for just the second time ever they would have a commanding lead in qualification leading up to the world cup.
No news has come from FIFA yet on the CR protest of the snow game. Gotta assume that it ends up standing given the word was that the protest came after the match rather then during when it was discussed by both sides, the referee and FIFA officials.
Beatings will continue until morale improves
Coverage is on ESPN 2
Actually, FIFA ruled today. Game stands, Costa Rica didn't present significant enough evidence to get the game thrown out.
Any points at Azteca would be great, 0-0 draw, 3-3 draw, doesn't matter. Just points would be fan-freaking-tastic.

For the most part that's right. They didn't inform the USA captain that they were going to protest and hey didn't let the ref know on they field. They didn't follow the rules to protest the game

I googled looking for it... There were alot of question over whether their protest met the requirements for them to even make a ruling
Good first half. Have to take advantage of those set pieces though and both guys on the left side of the defense carrying cards worries me.
seems as if US stole the momentum to end the half. If they play like that we could win this.
Beasley hurt. Not good.
I like Klinnsmann. I think that he can get us to the next level. Where are the commercials??
Just need to keep holding them off and try to get one on a break to Eddie. The Mexican crowd will go apeshit if we end up winning this game with a hand full of shots on goal compared to 20 for them
Great point! And did exactly what we needed to do in this round of qualifiers. Huge games from Besler and Gonzalez, think we found our center backs of the future.
Yeah a draw!
Ohhh let's doooo it
ooorrrannngeeee and bluuueee it
Couldn't agree more. Had my fears with Gonzales and don't watch much MLS games so I didint know what to think of Besler. But they played great together
Wow that was far from our strongest team and they held on. Well done, coach you got your team back. Historic, wow. 1-1-0 in Mexico....WOW
*****Flaming post here if you like Mexico. Do not read if you pull for Mexico*****
My wife and myself were in an Indian Casino bar in Oklahoma a few years ago when the USA took a two- nill lead against Mexico. Well I am cheering for my team but the largely non- Anglo crowd was suspiciously quiet. Mexico ended up winning 4-2 I believe. The patrons erupted in chanting Me-hi-co! Me-hi-co! Me-hi-co!
I then went up to one of the Mexico fans and asked where was he from. He said Los Angeles. I asked "born and raised there" and he said yes. I said that this was a disgrace to America and furthermore, it made me sick to my stomach that an American born and raised would pull against us.
His explanation was that his parents were born in Mexico so he pulls for them. This made me so incensed besides the fact that I had quite a few beers in me so I lit into him. I let all of them know that I was sick by their actions. My people fought and died for my Country and I will not allow anyone to defile their struggles or our purpose. My Dad fought in Korea and his first cousin died there.
They surrounded me and tried to bully me but I would not acquiesce. My wife was pleading with me to leave but I did not stop. My only disappointment was the lack of help from the few "silent minority" that were clearly born and raised here.
In the end they gave up and left peacefully after the security guards showed up "en masse." Why is it that us Americans sit peacefully by as bullies who are getting benefits such as free education and free healthcare degrade the very Country that is filling their mouths?
I will ALWAYS do what I did that night. Right is right no matter what. That being said, I'd also like to thank those Latin Americans who fought in our wars and died in them because I'd like to think that these few Cholos were in the minority. USA! USA! USA!
Oh and chiccarones didn't do squat!! He was like pig lard.
It was really terrific to get that point last night. A great effort and a big surprise.
Mexico is now 68-1-7 all time in WC qualifiers in Azteca, and the U.S. has only once before managed so much as a tie.
For us to get a point when we were missing so many players is icing on the cake. Think about who was not available.
No Howard, no Bocanegra, no Cherundolo, no Goodson, Chandler, Williams, Johnson, Torres, Donovan, Jones, etc. Probably half our starting lineup was out, and the rest would be key subs. The U.S. typically does not have the depth to get results when so many people are gone. Perhaps that is changing.
