...per the Orlando Sentinel. Apparently Bianchi snagged Muschamp after and got this tidbit out of him.
Coaches will look to take advantage of Purifoy's playmaking ability by moving him to offense

Hey now hijacking my thread lol
What exactly does this mean with regards to his position in the fall? We didnt sign Ramsey or Mack so wouldnt we definitely need him playing corner this year?
We still have Poole and Riggs, and Washington could very well see time at corner
It means VH3 is gonna start.
A Purifoy D-Rob and Dunbar receiving core will be fun to see in the Spring.
Florida had three starting-caliber corners this year. Add Vernon Hargreaves III to the mix and you have the same situation next year with him stepping in for Purifoy. Don't think this is necessarily permanent, either. But they have to find receivers and can't afford to wait until fall camp to see if one of the four non-EE receivers pans out.
Keep in mind, without Purifoy at receiver, Florida's only got five healthy scholarship receivers for the spring (Debose, Dunbar, Pittman, Andrades, Robinson).
Are kickoff and punt returns also in his future ?
Wow, they must love VHIII.
I guess that puts Watkins first in line to start opposite Roberson. Riggs and Poole are available for experienced depth. Still, can't see them moving Purifoy (who was a starter) unless they thought VHIII would be ready to play from day 1.
Not sure how I feel about this one.
It's just the spring
To test it out
+1...but I am sure if need be he is back at CB in the Fall...I would actually prefer giving him a look at FS vs WR to be honest...our FS candidates next year are all super green, and Evans really stabilized the back end of our D last season and had a great SR year....also LP is such a ball hog and instinctual player
I don't like it. He's an NFL talent at CB. At WR, I'm not so sure. He's going to be a junior this year, so taking a year away from more development at CB is not good for him. I'd much rather have him as a starting corner, than our 3rd-5th WR. If he's playing WR and CB in the spring so he can have more time on both sides of the ball, then I'm all for it.
Walk softly but carry a big stick.
It's not like he's going to forget how to play corner. Like I wrote in the magazine last month, it makes perfect sense to give him a full dose in the spring at a position of great need to see his ability. If he can help the WR's then flip what he did last year, instead being a full-time WR and a part-time CB.
My problem with moving him in spring is its not like he is an elite sure fire first rounder like JJ or Joe Haden. He has alot of work to do when it comes to truly playing corner. I thought this would be the offseason he works more on fundamentals and technique that messing around because of his raw talent
This. Defense first.
I like having him take snaps at WR though. Hopefully it makes the other receivers work hard.
he can always move back
LOL at the thought of Riggs playing corner. I'm sure this is a Spring experiment. He excels, than we have ourselves another wideout. He doesn't pick it up quick enough or can't catch, he moves back to corner and we far it a shot. He is an athlete with high football IQ and has a knack for being around the ball. I think he may make a little noise. At least provide some needed competition.
I think he's more of a body at WR for spring...imo. If he does well, he may play two ways but I don't think you remove him from defense.
I can understand that argument from Purifoy ... but the team's need is clearly great at cornerback. If Purifoy is OK with the move, why would the Florida coaches not take the better path for the team?
If the kid was a redshirt freshman, I'd say go for it. If he wasn't working out at CB, I'd say go for it. But this is his junior year, and he's shown he can play at an extremely high level at CB. He's also shown he needs more work at the position as well.
I know he's not going to forget how to play the position, but it's not going to help, especially when he could be practicing against talented WRs like Robinson and Fulwood now at CB. Dude's a junior and this could be his "contract" year at CB.
The odds of him becoming all-world at WR are far lower vs. becoming a more developed all-around CB that is a first-round pick in 2014, making himself lots of money, while helping our team win.
I just see two outcomes. One he is still in the 3-man rotation at CB, more than likely a starter with Watkins being the most likely to slide over to safety. Two, becoming a 3rd or 4th man in the rotation at WR.
That is my opinion, and subject to change dependent on how much time he spends at WR. If he's still in the starting rotation at CB and getting some reps at WR, cool. If not, I just don't agree.
Man who starts at Safety next year? Watkins was sure to get the FS with LP and Marcus manning the CB position. It would have made it much easier to slide either Maye, Showers, Poole or Neal at SS and allow Marcel and Gorman to fight for our Dime Safety position. (Poole will be our nickle DB im confident)
I think it will be alot of packaging defense's to keep everyone happy and LP will play both ways more than he should...(VH3 IS NOT A NICKLEBACK, HE IS A ISLAND CB "outside", YOU SET HIM AND FORGET HIM)

Crazy. A few early '14 mocks have him as a 1st rd corner. Obviously they are taking further development into consideration, but it's not like he doesn't know the system on D already.
"Who was your source? Church mice in here....." - Coach Muschamp
Making room for VHIII to be starter.
DMB, I hate the idea and Im going to smash my TV now because the mere thought of this. Then throw my laptop in the lake behind my house. Then start a fire and toss my phone in there. :) What will happen will regardless. Its all good.
