...tough blow for Florida on the recruiting trail.
Staff reporter. Twitter: www.twitter.com/Goldkamp247 | Facebook: www.facebook.com/swamp247
great get for UNC...Kasey Hill loomed too large in this one sadly....no matter what was said publicly, he was the reason Berry jumped on UNC even though they have recruited as many PG as we have in 12 and 13 classes....hope Kasey stays for 2 seasons...2014 class nationally is really bad and not a ton of top kids we are in on, will be interesting....need to lock down Grayson Allen and get moving on some bigs in that class
So after Grayson Allen the staff only wants bigs? What about D'Angelo Russell? I really like this kid
UNC doing UNC things....the house Dean/MJ built....no matter how bad a coach ol Roy is ....still gets his Mc D AAs...sucks for BD -- got to hurt given a kid in his backyard and lose to an inferior coach
still surprised though given they got marcus paige and nate britt in 2012 and 2013 already....neither will be 1 and done or even 2/3 yr kids best case
really hope we hold on tight to Braxton O ....dont like all this transfer talk out of his camp already....way too early for that nonsense
really need a Grayson allen and 2-3 other primo bigs for 2014 class no question
would say little chance on D Angelo Russell...he is a kentucky kid and expect lville an sUK to battle it out for him
I think I posted on here last week UNC was the biggest threat. Looks the Joel had an amazing time on his visit. I thought we would keep this one in the state but oh well. UNC got a good one.
Interesting but certainly a good opportunity for the kid. I don't think there current freshman PG is any good really.Vastly overrated. Marcus Page.
How good in the younger Wilbenkin?
I like Russell as well. I think Louisville was in on him early. If UF can someway get Justice Winslow I would be very happy.
Usually once a kid commits in college bball, other coaches stop recruiting the kid, correct?
We need Justice Winslow, Grayson Allen and a big guy....
Is it over? He can't sign yet right?
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
Typically, yes. Billy Donovan has said he does, at least.
I remember when I first heard about him last year Louisville was the first school mentioned but lately I'm always seeing Florida listed first when talking about his list. Might not mean anything but figured I would ask one of the insiders on here. I don't know anything about Winslow. To youtube!
we are not getting Winslow...plenty of good PG/SG in 2014 class we can get...bigger wings and bigs is another story...class is really weak in these positions
Everything I've heard is Winslow loves UF and Billy D. So does his dad.
DOnt be surprised that we get a few transfers for that class.
Ferd, what class are you taking about with respect to transfers? Our current freshman class?
2014, I believe.
cray thinking marcus paige starts now for UNC...having a crap yr but will be a JR when J Berry is a true frosh and Nate Britt will be a Soph ahead of him in theory....all very similar PG in terms of size/skill set etc....all look like 4 year guys too....feels like a log jam esp at a place like UNC where they dont really run guard heavy sets
as for UF and transfers....not sure what to make of that given huge unknown to get transfers?? how could possibly we know who will come available that BD WANTS this early? but aint doubting Ferd, that for sure!!
just want to close w/ J Randle in 2013 and i wont give a FFFF what we do in 2014 lol
billy had done a great job with transfers last year 400 kids transferred. Would rather take a player that has averaged 15 a game in college than a high school kid.
Okay...I got you now. Thanks.
not questioning value of transfers and what BD has done with them....guys like Macklin, MikeRo have been HUGE for UF...hell Kadji / vargas had nice careers transferring away, even Huertas/Mitchell did too
think DFS and Damontre will be huge.....my only simple point was it seems like a risky strategy to rely on getting transfers at this point vs signing a HS kid...but 2014 a long way off so staff has another 3 mths to decide on whether to take transfers or not for 2014 class (sit out 2013) guess
no question the right transfers can be huge + add a mature body that can be an instant impact guy + get 1 yr to work guy in "system" before they hit the court too....worked wonders at Mizzou -- look at the quality players they have cobbled together via transfers + who knows , now their are post grad guys instantly eligible and/or guys that come from NCAA sanctioned programs instantly eligible too to consider....Wells to twerps from xavier, oriakhi mizzou , mayes at sUK etc + lyons at zona all come to mind this yr
Wesley Johnson prolly the ultimate transfer at cuse went high lotto
Also the transfer rules may be changing. That may mean if you have a minutes available at a position there will be lots of guys who can play right away interested in those minute.
