Janoris Jenkins had an incredible rookie season at cornerback for the St. Louis Rams. He registered 73 tackles, while intercepting 4 passes and recovering a fumble. 3 of his picks went for touchdowns and he returned his only fumble recovery for a touchdown. He also deflected 14 passes, had 3 tackles for loss, and blocked a kick.
In my opinion he deserves to win Defensive Rookie Of the Year (ROY). His 4 defensive touchdowns led the league in non-offensive touchdowns and were 2 more than any other rookie defender. 3 tackles for loss is good for a linebacker, let alone a corner; and the 3 tackles were on Alfred Morris, Marshawn Lynch, and Adrian Peterson. He deflected 14 passes and blocked a kick. He also caused SF QB Colin Kaepernick to draw an intentional grounding penalty in the endzone, resulting in a safety. All in all, Jenkins still has plenty to work on, but his incredible athleticism allows for his dynamic playmaking ability
with elam about to be going into the league and some of the guys we got on deck the gators are gonna be well represented in the NFL at DB

Who was our best corner of the 2: Joe Haden or Janoris Jenkins.
I think UF career goes to Haden. Had Janoris not got the boot, I think he would have surpassed Joe.
One of my favorite Gators ever, too bad about off the field stuff that cost him finishing his career as a Gator
Who won DROY
Amazingly, JJ finished fourth with only 3 votes. Really?
I'll take JJ.
I hope to see Roberson and Purifoy become JJ/Haden. I think they can. Gotta remember how young they are. Purifoy was coming on big as a 1st year starter. He is a playmaker like JJ. Haden was just solid all around, but not as much flash.
For my money, JJ was already UF's best ever by the end of his junior year. If we had him in Champs first year, we win at least 1 extra game.
im leaning towards JJ in 2010 lock down alshon,a.j green, and Julio Jones
Jenkins was burnt deep on a few occasions that I can recall
Haden, I dont recall being torched
Care to name them?
Haden played boundary and Jenkins played field.
Playmaker. Would have beat UGA with him in 2011
He's already a Top 3-5 cb in the NFL, and so is Joe Haden. The way he plays now, is the type of CB VH3 will be in college, IMO. He's that much of a playmaker, but even smarter football IQ than JJ.
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
if it worth anything, that is one of the better points I'd expect to hear. I'll be honest, I did not know the difference, in those terms, and I'm not ashamed to admit that. Researched it and you are spot on. Well done.
Man, I really don't care to name them but I wanted to respond to you nonetheless. IMO, overall body of work for JJ doesn't deserve that. I just recall. This topic is splitting hairs asking us to compare these two studs.
Good post Bro-ham!
