Solid choice...better than a lot of guys they could have gotten, although I was really hoping for Nolan, as I have a man crush on his movie making ability lol
I am just impartial on that movie, they will just milk it for as long as they can, the originals are still the best
I know JJ. He is a real Twilight Zone freak....
I bet the movie trailer will say - "From the creator of "Felicity.' "
"You're not a good guy, you go somewhere else. We'll play you. We'll beat you."
Good choice..not a fan of them doing a re-boot because so much story is left in the saga after the death of Lord Vader with the Jedi Academy/the twins etc or before books 4-6 with Solo's story and the Empire. Will watch either way.

maybe re-boot is wrong term, my bad...it is episode 7...
They are ignoring all of that extended universe crap
I think JJ. is a good choice!

A few of those books are the reason there was even a story for Esp 1-3.
He's at the helm of both the Star Trek AND Star Wars franchises? No one man should have all that power.
I think its awesome
Hopefully JJ doesn't lens flare the hell out of Star Wars like he did Star Trek in 2009
As a JJ Abrams Insider, his favorite show of all-time is "The Twilight Zone."
Star Wars now including lens flare.
Wonder who gets cast for the leading roles. Already hearing Tebow's ex Camilla Belle or Marion Cotillard as front runner for Leia. Somehow Jennifer Lawrence will make her way into the cast being Michael Arndt is doing the writing.
Link? I can't imagine they'd disregard the existing canon and I thought I read in the original reports of Disney's acquisition that there was a stipulation prohibiting that. We're talking about 30 plus years of sanctioned writing and mythology that would be invalidated; doesn't seem likely and would alienate a lot of fans, me included. Some of the best stories in the franchise are in the EU.
Abrams will probably come up with some sort of different story, just like they're doing for Star Trek
Granted there won't be no re-boot or anything but they'll come up with a good story i imagine.
Jennifer Lawrence would be a good young female character in the movie
Actors/actresses i would consider:
Tom Hardy - Jedi Master aka an Obi Wan type of character
Jennifer Lawrence - eye candy/princess / female Jedi
Benedict Cumberbach - Villian / Sith
Joseph Gorden Levitt - Jedi
Ralph Fiennes - Villian/ Sith Lord
James Franco - Jedi
Garret Hedlund - Jedi
Olivia Wilde - Eye candy/princess / female Jedi
Taylor Lautner - Jedi - If they want to bring in more female fans to see the movie
Liam Hemsworth - Jedi
Chris Hemsworth - Jedi Master
Ashley Green - Eye Candy / princess / female Jedi
Javier Bardem - Villian/ Sith
Sam Worthington - Jedi
Zoe Saldana - Eye Candy/ princess / female jedi
Guy Pearce - Jedi Master
Charlize Theron - Queen
Speaking of alienating fans... LOL if this happens I will go burn down Skywalker Ranch
EU has always not been canon in terms of the movie. It exists in an alternate universe. They aren't going to try and make sure the new movies stay consistent with all the books, although you might see some of the ideas make it into the movies. I wouldn't expect Mara Jade for example or clone emperors.
This is the same thing that happened when ep 1-3 came out. It's just that most of the EU stuff was after Jedi so the new stuff was a lot less likely to cause contradiction.
I definitely recognize that there were some good ideas and stories in the EU, but I find most of the stuff pretty wonky although I'm no expert.
I'm pretty sure there is already a script, but I'm sure JJ will add to it. The script is supposed to be based on Lucas really rough outline for EPs 7-9, but I'm curious what he even has. His original idea for 7-9 was quite different. Vader would have turned good at the end of 6, but we would have barely seen the emperor and it would have been revealed that Luke has a twin sister that the emperor had kept secret (this wasn't Leah). Then Lucas's idea for the next three was having Luke and the good Vader team up to stop those two (really general idea right?). He essentially condensed that entire idea into the end of return of the Jedi, and made Leah Luke's sister.
Title should be changed to...Post in here if your entire sexual experience has been online porn or Twilight novels.
