The ONE downside to clinching the east is that we get to play FSU the week before we play the Beast over in the west in Bama.
Bama on the other hand, gets to play the SEC's worst team without a single SEC win in Auburn.. As if Bama needed an advantage. They get to rest their starters and gamplan for us while we have to play a physical game against FSU on the road.
The FSU game literally means nothing in the grand scheme of things, but we must to what we have to do to win that game. Sucks doesn't it? Wish there was a bye week before the SEC title game.
Hoping LSU or MIss State manage to somehow slip into the SEC title game, although we all know that isnt happening.
You're going to have to explain to me how the FSU game means nothing. Wouldn't losing that game crush our national title hopes?
Yes, we will play a tough game, but we'll be focused as well. Sometimes easy games can lead to a team coming out sluggish (not that I ever expect that to happen to Bama).
Always focus one game at a time - if we win the East early, we'll be able to put little pieces of the Bama gameplan into our prep for UL and Jacksonville St.
Yea i was thinking about this too, even if Lsu slips in there the game will still be tough. I def agree i wish there was a bye week
scrape the sides up...
Didn't seem to bother us in 2006 or 2008 (both @ Doak as well). If this is a championship team, they will get it done. Plain and simple.
I know AU is a dumpster fire but I have seen a horrible AU team WRECK Bamas season in the Iron Bowl. They are playing the season for 1 game from now on and thats the Bama game. Expect them to pull out all the stops. As any rivalry goes anything can happen. I expect us to win but it could be tougher than people think.
Haven't we always played FSU the week before the SEC Championship?
Hasn't made a difference in the past so why would this year be any different?
not worried about FSU. They're not that good
You post Rivals, correct?
No, Havnt been on a Rivals board in over a year. The 247 platform is far advanced and the info is much more respectable.
For as long as I can remember. SOS used to bivtch about It back In the days.
Okay. I thought I remembered you from over there. I think you used the same pics for your sig over there as well.
If Florida were to lose to FSU it might still get in the MNC game if it beats Bama that following week. So in this regard, the game gives UF some leeway.
There is also another scenario in which the positioning of the FSU game could help the Gators. IF the Gators lose to Georgia and UGA wins out, but loses to Bama (no way UGA beats Bama), then UF could GET BACK into the MNC discussion by beating a top 10 (maybe even top 5 by then) FSU.
That could put UF v. Bama for the MNC. Doubt it happens, but it's possible.
¡Hala Florida !
Can't believe how everyone is lOoking past Ga. SMH. Too many of y'all are getting waaaaay ahead of yourself.
We are fans. NOT PLAYERS!
The title of this thread is "If we clinch this week", so yeah the assumption of beating UGA is sort of built-in.
UGa has depth concerns, suspect defense, and has only looked good against crappy teams. I'm pretty damn confident Florida wins the WLOCP, as is tradition. We'll be 11-0 headed to FSU with effectively two bye weeks before that game. I'd say there is a great chance we are 12-0 headed to the SECCG, and I don't give a damn if we win it or not. ITs a magical freakin' season and if feels good.
Exactly. We get to prognosticate and look ahead.
+1. You sir deserve a cookie. LOL
I'm confident of our team regardless of who we face. We're on our 2006 ish!
It is my opinion that we will be able to rest our starters against F$U, and I'm only joking a little.
"Let go of your hatred, down-voting Jedi. Hatred leads to the Dark Side of the Force."
I think the opposite of this played out in 2009. Alabama went down to the wire against Auburn, while we basically had a sending off party against a terrible FSU team (Dunlap took the partying a little to far). I recall Bama being far more prepared to battle. The same may be true here.
But lets focus on Georgia and hope to have this problem later...
No football team starts the year setting a goal of winning a MNC
They set the goal of winning their conference. That said, FSU means literally nothing to us in pursuit of this goal, but let's win it anyway
Considering the gains we have made this year, I'm stoked we are talking about sealing up a trip to ATL
Great to be a Gator
You've got to be kidding me. Goals can change. We are currently 7-0 and #2 in the BCS. A national championship is a very real possibility at this point. Not to mention, IT'S FREAKING FSU. Surely I don't have to explain to you or any Gators fan why that is always a huge game.
someone downvoted this?
must be basketball fan that knows absolutely zero about football, lol
