He's as good as the other two guards. Might be the most important as the season goes on. 13 pt & 10 dimes today.

Just was saying same thing to my buddies about SW. He has realy come on. He is realy playing at a high level.
He held Pressy, the preseason SEC Player of the Year, to one bucket and 10 turnovers. That's an amazing performance. He has to be getting his confidence up and will be a really key player down the stretch.
will say i grossly undervalued what SW brings to table....impressive lock down defender and shown ability to hit open 3s and occassionally get to rim...always thought the scotty hopson lockdown hype was just hype but kid has done it vs the best in SEC consistently
biggest issue with him is his dribbling.... kid doesnt make great decisions when in air/picks up dribble too easily and will get us in trouble when teams press UF IMO....he needs to keep working hard on that aspect of his game
amazing though -- kid was a lightly regarded HS Jr really when we brought him in and he really should be a Soph right now or even a Rs Frosh at this point....kid has only gotten better every year he has played ball....really think he could have a chance to play NBA ball if he keeps progressing in 3-4yrs....may have to go to europe or something first but the kid really has made strides every yr at UF and dont see any reason why he wont continue to improve
It's great having a point guard that isn't a defensive liability and isn't jacking up a 30 footer every time down the court... Or driving in down the lane against 7 footers being 5 foot tall. Sorry for the rant Erv Taco, I know you played your heart out for UF and I'm thankful for that, you just drove me crazy alot lol. I believe if we have the SW that played today in each of the past two Elite 8 games we have played, we win. He wasn't perfect by any means, had a few crazy drives but as SW and this season progress I believe he will be a huge upgrade at the 1 over what we have had over the last few years. Guys... UF finally has a true point guard again.
I was extremely concerned with him at point, going into the season. I've done a complete 180 on him. He's a vicious defender, good passer, and has the guts to take the big shot. If we're playing like this in March, finals four here we come.
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
No surprise at all to me. Never doubted him one bit at the pt. & still don't. Kid is a winner, has been all his career. I've been very lucky to have seen this kid grow up ballin at a high level since he was in the 8th grade at the Rock HS.
Billy knows a good pt. when he sees one. He's got my vote - never hear me knock on him - win lose or draw! He's Scottie & he's a Gator. No fair weather Gator here boys.
i always believed in scottie. a lot of people were skeptical coming into the season on scottie's play. he is a lock down defender and his offense has really taken a turn. great kid too despite early this season. really happy we have him for another year!
A lot better than many of our fans predicted when he came in at age 17... I recall plenty of PessiGators saying he'd never see the floor as a starter, based solely on his play at that time, as if he'd never improve.
The fact that he came so early is probably at least partly responsible for his development to date.
Well I did not see him as a young player as GatorJeff did, but when he scored 9 points, then 8 points in two games against UK and locked down UTn best player who was 6'7", I knew given playing time he would develop into at the least into a solid PG.
At this point it is hard for me to imagine anyone else winning SEC defensive player of the year, but Noel will probably get it.
Correcto on the dribbling...airpicks...etc .He had too many to's but yes, we should acknowledge that his game has matured bigtime. Not crazy about his new do.
I have really enjoyed SW's play this year. Yes, it has been better than I anticipated. I am really getting excited about this teams season. We could really be in for something very special.
One of the best perimeter defenders in the nation, without question.
Past President of the Rowdy Reptiles (Men's Basketball Rowdies).
He was great yesterday, and is UF's most important player, not named PY.
He still has to protect the ball better, but his confidence is soaring right now. He's taking shots that he wouldn't have dared to even look at, last season. If he can stay assertive, which is an absolute must for the pg in Billy's system, the offense will be virtually unstoppable.
That's not saying he has to have a double-double every gm, but he has to make the defense account for him. Last season he would call out a set and already be looking to pass, without even threatening to penetrate.
It's crazy what confidence can do to a kid's gm.
Much respect to Scottie Dubbs! I had my doubts before the season but he has really performed at a high level. The play yesterday when he bounced passed into Pat from the base 3 then slid over to the wing 3 to get the wide open 3 on the pass back from Young when the defender slid down onto Young was perfect. The kid is playing lights out Billy ball
