That's awesome! I always use "if a bullfrog had wings, he wouldnt bump his ass." Thanks for the new line
813 I could argue your same points for Speights as it is well known that Billy wouldve preferred him to stay and develop more. He spent his first year playing little behind Jo, Al, and Chris and then got his ring, played a down season in 07-08 and then bolted for the NBA. His character issues are obvious to me as a basketball fan. He was every bit and maybe even more talented than guys like Noah and Horford but never wanted to put in the work. Now look at him. While guys like Jo, Al, David are playing in all star games and getting max deals Mareese is getting traded for cap relief a year after being traded for 2 second round picks. I could also make an argument for Tyus who bitched and complained and wanted to leave because of where his team needed him on the court. Others like Jai Lucas and Jonathon Mitchell who transfered or Dan Werner who was a star in practice but barely a D1 player when it mattered could be brought up as well. There is a reason these guys got locked out of the facilities and banned from wearing UF gear after going 8-8 in conference and dropping 8 of the last 11 games that season. You dont get banned for sucking, you get banned for lack of effort. They felt entitled like they were the ones who won those back to back National Championships. Nick was the lone bright spot on that team and at no point during that terrible season could you question his effort. The kid gave it all and did it all. Scored when needed, facilitated, even rebounded and played good defense. He was our best player from the tip to the buzzer in every single game that year. Why? he didnt have much help......
Nick came back for the 08-09 season and led the team to 25 wins. Wouldve made the tournament but didnt have enough quality wins (hard to remember the last time a team from a power 6 conference logged 25 Ws and didnt make the tournament)
Bottom line, Nick was a Gator and a damn good Gator at that. I don't give two craps about any of this he was an ahole blah blah blah, it didnt show on the court when he took over games for us. Although he was only with UF for 2 years he is borderline one of the top 5 players and definetly top 10 players Billy has coached. Just imagine if he wouldve been the PG for the 09-10 tourney or the 10-11 elite 8 run instead of Erving. Love Erv but Nick was a true point with tons of talent. Watch the tapes...

Appreciate your post. Definitely always want to support a former Gator and posts like yours has made me re think my opinion from last night. Always more to the story, and in this case it all seems to support Nick as a good kid.
Don't care for Calathes and never will. I, too, have some insight on the matter. Not willing to share it. It's probably the case that very few would believe it anyway, so I see no need to drag anyone else's names through the mud. I have not followed him in his pro career at all and that will never change.
That being said, congrats to the guy on his forthcoming baby and I wish the child all the health and success in the world.
The reason you go to college is to get a good job.
Nick went to UF for 2 years and got a MILLION FREAKIN DOLLARS a year to leave.
Anybody that hates on him for disloyalty is just kidding themselves.
Loyalty is first to yourself and your family.
i never really liked calathes always thought he was stupid leaving so soon to do what? play overseas ok still aint the nba is he?
parsons all day baby he made me forget about calathes fast
To do what? To make millions of dollars. Yeah, no biggie.

I always liked Nick . I never realized so many people had a problem with him.
Hahaha, same here. News to me.
One of my best friends is close with Speights. Played AAU together. He says Speights hated school so he dipped.
