Geat hire on the surface
Don't see any real connections to Muschamp, but he did work with Nick Saban at Michigan State in 1999. He also has had some extremely productive defensive lines at South Carolina.

Lawing made $300K at South Carolina in 2012.
Gamecocks football coach Steve Spurrier and his staff along with baseball coach Ray Tanner were rewarded for their historic seasons by the USC Board of Trustees on Friday.
He's been at South Carolina for 18 years and is gonna bounce now? weird.
so, I'm guessing he would take over for Durkin in the Carolinas.
Hope not.. We need to keep Durkin up there, I don't think the promotion to DC is gonna affect his recruiting efforts
He hasnt been there 18 straight years. He had a 10 years in the 80's and 90's, then left, and has been back there 8 years.
Waiting for the "LOLZ Brad Lawing" thread....
dont like the hire he might be a good coach, but unless were losing BY bad hire imo. Who will do ST? I dont know how durkin can handle recruiting DC,LB'ers and ST planning..a lot of work...
This guy fits exactly what we need. Would be a great hire.
He doesn't recruit well, and our other DL coach is BY who doesn't recruit well either. Should be interesting.
"Who was your source? Church mice in here....." - Coach Muschamp
Joker would be my guess has been great at it for years.
Im watching this playoff game
Jim Levitt would have been PERFECT
Wlle then that tells you how good of a coach he is. USC DL has been damn impressive even though had nothing to do with the names that have been on it. Sure has done a alot with very little then I guess.
Yep. Besides Clowney, I'd be interested to see a breakdown of the commitments he has garnered and their ranking.
Coaching > Recruiting.
South Carolina has had one of the best Dlines in the nation over the past years, even b4 Clowney. Some of you guys are ridiculous.
He was Lattimore's main recruiter
Relax, it's part of the discussion.
Hes had some solid DE's DT's over the years but past 2 its been a lot due to Clowney, great coach but unless Jokers doing ST's Durikin has way too much to deal with.

You mean its part of the bytching?
Yeah, I'm out.
Lol you being serious? I agree coaching is more important on the DL, but it doesn't hurt to be able to get guys like Clowney either.
FYI: There are some very good DLs coming out of S. Carolina and Virginia next year. And most are schools that had S. Carolina high
