LORD FORGIVE ME FOR THE GOON DADDY IS COMING OUT TONIGHT
I hope so. Add him and Raekwon this year.
Walk softly but carry a big stick.
Luke said he's down the board.
Maybe it's just because the Gators already have Miller and possibly Thornton in the fold, because I really like him. It also could be because he's pretty narrow through the shoulders. He's 205 now and I'm not sure he'll get much bigger than 230-235.
Dillon posted a 4.79 40 yard dash, a 4.28 shuttle, 37 inch vertical, and a 39 inch power ball toss.
Damn...dude's got the strength of a kindergartner. ;)
Seriously though, his vert and power ball numbers really surprised me...I may have underestimated his upside.
I think Keith posted an article that stated the next five schools he'd like to visit and we weren't one of them. Im not a fan of his frame at all. But if he's already 220 then he can handle the Will spot. But if hes only 205, then that changes things.
Please correct me if wrong. But wasn't there an article about 1-2 years ago that stated coaches like Muschamp and Saban had specific measurements per position, and if they werent met, the staff would move on.
Not sure about an article, but most coaches have a mold/prototype when it comes to measurables...some just stick to it more strictly than others.
But in certain cases when a kid excels greatly or possesses an extreme talent in a particular phase of his game or skill set, they'll all usually make an exception.
Bates' vert and pb suggest he's more explosive than his film shows. Not sure if it's enough for Muschamp to deviate from his mold, but we'll find out. If/when the staff works him out in-person, they may change their stance.
He already visited UF

"You're not a good guy, you go somewhere else. We'll play you. We'll beat you."
I thought his film was pretty damn good. With these cobine numbers, though, I think he's solidified himself as the top OLB in the state.
I wasn't knocking his film, just saying that his vert (explosion) and pb toss (core strength) numbers suggest he has a higher ceiling than his game film shows. He flashes good pop at times, but his explosive power on the field isn't consistently consistent with his combine numbers.
I like Bates alot and you can certainly make an argument for him as the top OLB prospect in FL. I have Keyon Brown graded higher (Von Miller/Jarvis Jones type of potential), but to each his own.
If Keyon Brown proves to be able to play in space, his stock skyrockets. Until then, he's "just another" short in-state pass-rusher.
Brown's film proves he has the ability to play in space (athletic ability, agility, short area quickness/COD, etc.). I know he isn't asked to play alot of coverage, but that doesn't mean he can't...he has the athleticism and movement skills, plus he's incredibly explosive. Surprisingly stout against the run, too (base/core strength, ability to stack/shed and disengage).
Not that I consider 6'2" "short" but he's so much more than "just" a pass rusher. Enormous potential.
Umm, have I missed something? SInce when are we in the catbird's seat for Raekwon.
??? He never said Raekwon he was talking about Thornton the Buck prospect
My apologies. I got my last names crossed up between Miller and McMillan.
