Him originally being from NY makes me worried about GT and SU. Hopefully Kasey can reel him in.
I am not even sure how great of a fit Dakari is at UF.....just being honest...he does not run the floor well and is a true 5.....who was the last true 5 we had? No idea what he will do, but GU is the best fit based on his skill set IMO
not sure these guys have any cred but internet trolls tweeting this
DMcDonaldHoops Dan McDonald
That's probably right. RT @kentuckyloan: @DMcDonaldHoops @jerrymeyer247 I say Florida and Cuse out front// I agree regarding Dakari Johnson.
I see it this way, it's a good thing if we land one of them but it could be absolutely terrible if we don't, making 2014 that much thinner...
That's kinda why I want him though. UF has never had a real center and I think it has hurt them. I am willing to give up Johnson's athleticism to get a big physical center. Kid is already 250 pounds and could grow some more.
hurt us how? We have never lost a big game because we did not have a gigantic and plodding C....I would take him if he wants UF, but he is a poor athlete, and does not run the floor well...don't see how that fits UF....Cuse or GU are great fits IMO for what he does best...that said he is a very good prospect and skilled down low
Alex Tyus playing center for a couple years comes to mind.
yeah but tyus playing C wasn't because we lacked a plodding C. We just don't typically have the system or style of play that matches well with kids like Dakari.
either way, with him coming to the 2013, it makes it imperative that we land one of these bigs!!
since the 2014 class is thin as it is, we better go after and land one of the top bigs or hope that walker/harris stay an extra year
I think we're at a point where there's a possibility that we might have too many freshmen starting.
Situations like this rarely work out for us unless they're local kids who grew up in love with UF. I just hope to land one of these last four. Sucks UK has to get involved with every major recruit we want. It'll always be an uphill battle with Cal there, despite the fact that UF/Billy have shown over and over again that they can develop future NBA stars, even those who are one and done types.
I doubt we get any of the 4...IF we do land 1, I'd say Embiid... JMO!
Hate to agree but that could be true.
What about the Butler game when UF couldn't get a rebound. I just want a big guy down low that can enforce the paint.
Again, UF will have to handle this extremely well IMO not to have sh*t blow up in their face.....PT already a driving factor potentially in Embiid decision, and he will commit soon (next 7-10 days likely), so if he and his team feel we are really hard after Dakari, then it could make him commit elsewhere and then we potentially miss on both...I would worry about being all in on Embiid, make sure he knows that, and not look at Dakari much....Dakari is a very good prospect, but does not really fit our style or our personnel we will have in 13-14 anyway....I am not too sure our staff feels this reclass is a good thing or that it helps us based on what I know, again, if anything it muddies the waters
If we don't land any of the 4, I'll be disappointed. I wasn't expecting us to get most or all of them, but I thought we'd at least get 1. And now the competition has gotten so close, that it looks like it could be anyone's game.
Very QT in the Gator Camp with regards to recruiting. But it seems we're very in it with all the top kids being recruited by the Bluest of blue bloods. If & I say if we manage to land anyone of the 4 kids that have visited UF recently, then we're set like no other next year & beyond. Dakari does pose a new wrinkle to UF recruiting though. He's a pure center which Fla. never really has had in the past. But he he deadly when he gets the ball down low. Impossible to stop when he post up other PF & lean centers!
We don't feed the post now... We need big athletic guys who can run the floor and catch the oops.... A back to the basket center does us no good. Itbwould help rebounding however! Tricky situation if you ask me! Let's lock up Embiid, then hope Randle or Parker wants UF! I doubt it though!
I agree. UF needs defensive/athletic wings and athletic/rebound oriented bigs.
Especially with a kid that can change the pace of a gm, off of outlets, as KHill does.
I just hope if 2013 class ends up Kasey and Cwalk that people will be happy, as I illustrated yesterday in my 13-14 roster breakdown, we are LOADED without adding anyone else in 2013....
My disappointment, if we do not get Embid, will have to do with our 2014 roster and beyond. I'm perfectly happy with our 2013 roster even if we add nobody else.
@JayJayUSATODAY: Dakari Johnson reclassifies to 2013. At this point Kentucky is in the driver's seat.
why worry about 14-15 season when we have not started 12-13....A TON can and will change before 14-15...who would have thought even 8 months ago we would get DFS and Harris to add to next year.....enjoy the current season and the potential of 13-14 and don't worry about 14-15...won't do any good....I want another kid in 13 class as much as anyone, but not going to sweat a roster 2 years from now
I'm fine with Kasey and C Walk for 2013 class anyone else would be icing on cake.
well i am greedy so i want another big man!! haha
