In the 1950s, 60s, 70s and early 80s, UF teams were built with Miami players. At one time, I know Coral Gables HS alone had more than 10 guys on the roster.
In the 90s, Jerry "Red" Anderson, former HC at Carol City, gave UF a good link to Miami, and UF did okay down there.
I say okay, NOT great.
Trying to recall UF's last HUGE recruit out of Miami.
My brain is fried though ....
Anybody come to mind???
Ben Hanks wasn't a huge recruit. Neither was Mark Campbell. Both were good players.
Maybe J. Colon? He was a big recruit. Or maybe Lawrence Wright? Wright was a big get. Think he was from North Miami.
Wright was very good player at UF. Won the Thorpe Award.
I know Lomas Brown was from Miami, too. That's going back to like 79 or 80.
What Miami recruit stand out to you guys??

Think Moore went to Edison right as it integrated.
Lomas came after him, late 70s/early 80s at Miami Springs
Wasn't Carlos Alvarez from Miami?
Recently I don't think we've gotten any huge recruits out of Miami.
Quinton Dunbar and Jabari Gorman are two starters from Miami though.
