With Walker I don't think theres any chance we ease up on our recruiting efforts in Bonifay to focus elsewhere. Walker isn't Johnson or Nnoko, he is a stud and staff won't go down without a dogfight for him. I still think that once Kasey inks the paper Chris is in the bag. Not to say that Kasey isn't 100% but once its finalized i'll know that UF will be the only place Chris can play with Kasey. As for Randle well, my only concern is the "in the moment" effect. Right now Billy is still the freshest thing in his mind. When he gets back to TX and every other big time coach puts on the full press we'll see how much interest he still has. I'm still just in awe of the 180 turn we've taken since losing Bennett and considering Brad Hayes. Not that im speaking down about the kid but we are a National Championship program with IMO the BEST head coach in college basketball. Good to see the tide is finally turning in our favor. Even as excited as I am for 13/14 squad I know that 12/13 team has the potential to be great as well. Boynton, Rosario, Prather, Murphy, Yuegete, Young form a solid upperclass core who should easily win 25+ games
Gator staffs #1 priority is Chris Walker.
I agree about not letting up on Chris Walker, but if another top prospect is showing interest then I feel they'd be dumb to not go after him.
NBA teams are raving about how Billy handled Brad Beal. He's being called the best prepared player in the draft. Billy was the USA coach at FIBA because the NBA people on the USA basketball board pushed for him.

A. Walker is priority. Why would anyone think otherwise?
B. why the struggle over Randle? The Gators have a foot in the door and at this point that's all it is. Billy spent three full weeks with Randle night and day. Lots of top 10 talents make their decisions on two days at a camp. I would think finding a coach who can fit the things you do best within the framework of a team and winning a gold medal in blowout style might rate better than a couple of days at camp.
Randle! Are you serious? This makes me so excited. Randle would be an absolute monster in Donovan's system with Hill at point... I mean scary good. He is so good with both hands. Has a NBA body already and a nice touch on his jumper. Has been the best high school player for the past 3 years IMO

Greed is a dangerous thing boys.....
You're right Bullis... Hell I'm happy with just Hill
If he's interested, recruit him. That's all I'm saying.
Putting all your eggs in one uncommitted basket is a dangerous thing too.
Franz not sure what wasnt clear in my post , didn't tie to logic ....seems Bullis agrees with my sentiment unless I am off base?
Recruiting is a fickle game . Can't tell 2 kids they are #1 priority and show them the love as most important....they are not dumb . Only way it works is if both guys state they want to play together . Hard to see here given roster/ spot they play
All I'm saying is staff is playing with fire IMO on an extreme low prob get in Randle and the wandering eye got em slapped last go around
As for Beal . Lots of scouts concerned by his low 3 pt percentage . Only excuse can be made is that he wasn't utilized right at UF to highlight , accentuate his strengths ....ie pairing him with a penetrating PG who could drive and kick plus better situating him in the scoring pecking order from day 1 ....they may all be excuses and simple reality is that BB just had a bad stretch shooting 3 ball to start yr . No better system, surrounding talent would have mattered
Personally I think him dealing with, adapting his game and overcoming "adversity" is only going to make him stronger in the long run
Beal is going to be a top 4 pick guaranteed so thats 26 teams scouts with opinions that don't matter. I'm sick of hearing everyone criticize Beal's 3 pt percentage and how he was used at UF. How should Billy have utilized him better? Because as far as I'm concerned he took a kid that was likely returning for his sophmore campaign, lit a fire under him and now he could be the 2nd pick in the NBA draft. So who's concerned? Cavs want him, Wizards want him. Is it the Bobcats? Cause thier scouts are the laughing stock of the league. Kings would salivate at the chance to take him and so would the other 25 teams so I'm not seeing the point. I could understand discussing someone like Drummond, Sullinger, heck even Barnes who declined but Beal?

AMEN. I see no reason why we should'nt go after Randle
Recruit them both and tell them first one to pull the trigger gets the scholarship.
we are not doing that at all FYI...we are planning on 2 bigs in 2013 class
we will take 2 bigs in 2013....if possible a superstar 1 and done type (walker, etc) and a 3-4 year kid we can develop into a good player (like we have done with Murphy)......
I'd love to get Walker not only because he is a great player but because he is a Florida kid. Huge fan of getting kids within your home state if possible. Hated to see Knight go to UK, but that is water under the bridge. If Walker goes elsewhere, hopefully it isn't because Donovan didn't recruit him as hard as he could. Not that he didn't recruit Knight as hard as he could.
IMO. I think the staff plans on adding two more bigs to go along with Hill in fall signing period. Then depending on players leaving early or transfer we may add a 2/3 in the spring.
I agree the depth chart means that UF needs to sign 2 bigs in the current class. I am not a big fan of signing more than 5 in a class, I think someone usually has his development slowed if there are six frosh. I also agree with Bullis33 that having Finney-Smith sitting out makes getting a 3 less urgent for 2013.
So I would be quite happy with a class of Hill, two bigs and one SG. But of course I am not UF's coaches and they have their high paying jobs on the line and I will happily defer to them. They also always seem to have good talent on the roster.
Well you do realize i was saying we prob take 4 in this class. 3 in early signing period and maybe one in spring either a SG/SF.
the good news is I feel GREAT on Walker.....we were already in a very very good position, and then as I thought all along, playing with Kasey has only helped UF A TON...
You just made my day Bullis!
No I took your first post the other way around. That is I took it as 3 in the fall and maybe 2 or 3 more in the spring depending who leaves. Thanks for clearing this up.
No biggy. I don't think Florida would able to take more then 4 in this class.
