The Knoxville fish wrapper says Coach Strong is rumored to have agreed to coach the Vols for $3.75 per year for 5 years. Meanwhile, the Louisville AD vowed to keep Strong no matter the cost even if they are required to make him the best paid coach in the country. No comment from Strong at this point. It's good to be Charley Strong!
What I'm hearing as well...
WOW, if Louisville is really gonna do that then I give them credit. I would really hate to see Charlie on the TN sideline though, YUCK! He's such a good guy, and a very important part of our history. If he goes, I will be happy for him though.
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
I just saw this over on TMB.
good for charlie i figured he would end up at 1 of the 3 out of tenn, aub, & ark
If he goes to UT, he's certainly got his work cut out for him. He'd be inheriting a situation much worse than what Muschamp faced. Getting UT back up to snuff on defense will take years of recruiting. I know he'll get there eventually, though. Good thing we have a 2 year head start.
I like Charlie Strong as much as anybody, but highest paid coach in the country? At Louisville?
Makes me more worried about the whole December 21, 2012 thing.
The SEC East is about to be brutally difficult.
3-4 year job
Like Charlie hate he has to be GatorBait.
Bad part about that is, I feel he could do it...unfortunately
yea its not gonna be easy thats for sure
aub would of been an easier job recruiting wise if they bring in most of this class they should be loaded according to the recruiting sites
i think he starts pullin recruits in a matter of days and takes the class into the top 15 but maybe not muschamp didnt have much luck when he only had a month or so

Really? NM, I just saw who it was posting, carry on with your bleak outlooks.
This is most important, IMO. Too little, too late to stop Florida under Muschamp and Co IMO

Strong would be a great hire for Tennessee. First and foremost, you have to be able to recruit at Tennessee because of the inherent lack of a strong in-state recruiting base.
After that, if you have a coach who can pump out a consistently strong defense, you will have a shot. What Strong does with his offensive staff will be pretty interesting.

And will be the difference between whether they're merely solid 8/9 win teams or legitimately challenging for SEC Championships.
Strong will pull Ramsey/Hatcher/Bell/North/Green, so he'd be off to a great start. Give him two full recruiting classes and he would have the defensive roster back to being loaded imo. They have a few good young players on D that he can work with. I can promise you they won't be half as bad as they were this year with him.
Sunseri took a top 30 defense nationally under Wilcox with all 11 starters back and a year stronger/more experienced. He tried to force the 3-4 on them when it didn't fit. They finished 116th in the nation in total D. 50 YPG more than the next worst defense, which was Auburns. UT's defense was historically bad this year. Worst D I've ever witnessed in the SEC and that includes Kentucky/Vandy defenses of old.
He might yet and he might as a Big East coach. But suddenly he has an ACC job. That makes his decision tougher.
Bleak outlook? What the hell are you talking about? I just said the SEC East would be difficult if Strong went to Tennessee. Do you disagree?
DAMN, if true, now I gotta hate Charlie
